    Scalping SPY options

I'll bite even though you only have one post... Watch your risk on this strategy. Trade as small as you can until you have a proven record. While the strategy you are attempting probably has no merit, you might stumble upon something that does. BTW, you say you are following them, so if that...

Sang Lucci Day trading Master Course

You might be right on that one. He does have some interesting free stuff on YouTube though, esp with Haim Bodek. (Master Course for $3,000 big red flag)

Karen the Supertrader - TastyTrade Hybrid Experiment

Didn't she get charged by the SEC with massive fraud? https://www.thestreet.com/story/13593247/1/karen-the-supertrader-s-winning-strategy-relied-on-fraud-sec-alleges.html https://www.sec.gov/litigation/complaints/2016/comp-pr2016-98.pdf

    Short Availability

Hey just checking back into this thread that really blew up. The options approach won't work with most of the issues I'd be interested in because they aren't optionable. Carry on : )

    Short Availability

Thanks Robert. I appreciate the input.

    Short Availability

The list would change every day and even hour by hour. I don't normally trade these kind of stocks but am looking into it for some additional trading opportunities. zdreg is correct that it would need to be immediate on the platform or available for pre-borrow to be useful. I was wondering...

    Short Availability

Hi, Just curious about opinions on short availability for low float stocks under $10. Which brokers do you think have the best consistent availability? Thanks.

VIX is close to being undervalued: Cheap way to play it

If you hold it long enough, it will eventually get very close to zero. And there will be many reverse splits along the way. Not sure why you would want to hold it long term. I hope you understand how it works. If not, do some research to better understand the built in decay factor. Also, you...

VIX is close to being undervalued: Cheap way to play it

Just reading this thread for the first time now and haven't been further than the above post, but , yes that was an excellent play and one that should have been easy for anyone regularly trading volatility. The tricky part was to to decide when, and if, to cover.

    Covered Calls and Implied Volatility

So you want to hold the stock long term but cap any gains to the difference between your sold call strike price and the current price of the stock plus premium received, but make sure you are exposed to any large decline minus the premium received. Do I have that correct? If so, you are on the...

    Covered Calls and Implied Volatility

If you are interested in this strategy (which is not a good one overall) you might as well sell naked puts. It's essentially the same thing. If you aren't willing to sell naked puts, you certainly shouldn't be selling covered calls.

    Brief Question about Covered Calls/Puts

BTW, if you have a TD Ameritrade account I am pretty sure you can download and use the Think or Swim platform. Using the "Analyze" section of that software is one of the best ways to learn about options.

    Brief Question about Covered Calls/Puts

There is some misinformation in this thread. While it is true that covered calls are essentially naked puts, it is not a conservative strategy. In fact, just the opposite. And selling naked puts is a better choice in most situations but not something you should be doing unless you have a lot of...

Does anyone know anything about the following day trading rooms?

So it's pretty simple. If whoever is running the room won't make available his/her performance records from the broker (not a spreadsheet or other fabricated source) you can safely assume they can't beat the market. If you require unfabricated results, you will rule out 99% of all chatrooms...

Newbie Questions About Selling Put Options

Or maybe they should recognize how much more risky covered calls are than they originally thought : ) ...and btw, anyone who does not understand how similar the two are should put their money elsewhere (no pun intended).

Newbie Questions About Selling Put Options

I wouldn't say "identical" but close enough. I'd prefer writing naked puts if I had to choose.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Being a Day Trader

Daytrading done by someone who knows what they are doing is much less risky than swing trading. Not even close.
