You supply the answers yourself. Trade 1mln in the stocks you now trade, trade your excess capital in other stocks or even venture into other markets. I moved from small caps to large caps pair trading which didn't really suit me and are now doing small caps and something totally unrelated...

Depends on where you reside. Japanese investors have not seen the dollar slide against the yen. And 4%+ seems pretty good compared to 1% domestically.

Wrong there. But then again I view my fund as a partnership with my investors and not as a get-rich-quick scheme. And I also like to think I get more clients with that fee structure but hard to prove that.

obviously markets (and hedge funds) bounced back from the lows in mid august. s&p ended the month with a plus and a lot of (quant) funds recouped most or all of their losses. these prelim performance figures don't look much different from the realtime investable indices.

yeah well.. look at what it costs to store it... alternatively... if you would have invested in wheat futures and continually rolled over into new contracts... you'd be up only 45% excluding interest on the margin. and that profits come entirely from the last 2 months....
