Right on the money. For those complaining. Most professional trading platforms have a similar security device. And rightly so.

    "sequentially" trading different systems

trading the systems sequentially doesn't average out the results. it makes the results more erratic if anything. however, if you cannot afford to trade all five systems, there's a simple solution if you have 5 systems that trade the same market. each systems assign a +1, 0 or -1 add the...

Is it realistic to average $17.50 a day trading YM with 3.5k ??

There could be a reason why I don't trade intraday equity futures. Maybe I don't think it's worth effort, maybe I've seen to many traders blow up and none succeed in a meaningfull way? Nah... I don't daytrade YM so what do I know? Why don't you start a journal and we can all enjoy your...

Is it realistic to average $17.50 a day trading YM with 3.5k ??

Nice one. Your margin of safety (3500 - 500 = 3000) doesn't relate at all to the full value of the YM contract? So losing 3000 isn't easier on a 65000 contract than on a 5000 contract?

Is it realistic to average $17.50 a day trading YM with 3.5k ??

It seems you have a lot of one liners and little substance. 1) I take it as a no then. Any links to this proof? While the average pro trader makes a profit, the average amateur loses - that much is proven. 2) Longer term trades really aren't affected by 1-2 ticks in execution. I could...

Is it realistic to average $17.50 a day trading YM with 3.5k ??

    1) It is proven, or do you think so? Are you the living proof of it, having scored +80% or more consistently for over 5 years? 2) This is only really relevant when talking about ultra short scalping in the direction with the trend. Not the only game in town. 3) Agreed. Challenging, but not...

Is it realistic to average $17.50 a day trading YM with 3.5k ??

Exactly Osorico. But why exactly do you think that small speculators can earn so much more than large professional speculators? You can trade a 1000 lot of S&Ps as easily as a one lot YM in normal circumstances. Or do you think that beginners in golf should have a realistic goal of...

Is it realistic to average $17.50 a day trading YM with 3.5k ??

' If you want to make sure you will survive anything the market will throw at you and make at least a decent salary for all the time and energy it costs... at least. You will need to diversify trading over all the major categories and use conservative leverage.

Is it realistic to average $17.50 a day trading YM with 3.5k ??

I do actually and have been in the business long enough (over 10yrs) to not believe anyone who says he can consistently and without significant risk of blowing up his account make more than 80% pa in the long run. Beginners should be aiming for maximum of 30-40% pa. And that doesn't depend on...

Is it realistic to average $17.50 a day trading YM with 3.5k ??

$60 a day is less than $15k per year. also not worth the trouble. you need at leat $500 a day to make it worth the effort. this is not problematic. however, you need a lot more capital than $4000 to pull it of consistently and without risk of going bust. think at least in the region $300k+.

Is it realistic to average $17.50 a day trading YM with 3.5k ??

$3500 to trade a $65000 contract. initial margin over $1400 leaves you with about a 2k cushion for losses. trading equities with almost 1:20 leverage is a sure way to get wiped out. you only need to lose 3% and you can't play anymore.

My backtested system consistently beats the S&P500

Sure hope you do not use Q4 information to decide which stocks to buy at the beginning of the year. That earnings information is generally not released until some weeks/months later.

    Manage other people' accounts?

would certainly check with the local regulator (usually they're quite helpful). where I live trading pools definitely are regulated (and quite costly to set up and run).

    Manage other people' accounts?

That depends on the rules of the country he and/or his clients reside in. As a non US manager handling non US accounts you don't need to register as a CTA with the NFA. Local regulator probably has some rules though (they always have ;)).
