You raise a very good point, I am arguably trying to pick a bottom with INTC, though this is also a longer term play for me (I wouldn't have a problem holding until fall/winter).

This article actually sums up my reasons for buying some INTC shares. Particularly interesting to see the comparison of P/E ratios of AMD and Intel.

One thing I find interesting right now is some of the analyst talk about "further downside risks" faced by Intel. More specifically, some of the analysts are stating that Intel could face a price war with AMD. I honestly have to say that I have no clue where they came up with the concept...

I don't imagine that will last for very long, particularly if Conroe turns out to be as good as the preliminary benchmarks are showing. Prelim benchmarks for AMD's socket AM2 CPUs aren't looking that great either, very marginal differences between the new models and the old socket 939 CPUs.

It's been interesting watching INTC intraday while working on an assignment today, $19.81 or so appeared to be a fairly strong point of resistance for much of the day. INTC is now moving up a bit during the last 30 minutes of trading, we'll see if it can sustain any upwards momentum.

Should also mention that it in retrospect, this wasn't a very well timed entry if I were a daytrader, Nasdaq Comp continued to move sharply downwards immediately after.

INTC has moved upwards today, breaching the downwards channel. Just opened a position during the mid-afternoon pullback, $20.12.
