    if your trading overnight its best not to trade with IB as they will almost without notice raise your margin and liqudate you.. this might seem reasonable but it does not give you a chance to reduce your position in a orderly fashion , they will liqudate you at the very very worse price...

    Ib is notorious for auto liquidation. They flushed millions of dollars at the close forcing people out of their positions . They raise margin requirement right when you need it the most and auto liquidate ... Just fyi they are a bucket shop...

    There has always been a premium to buying protection on the spx compared to it's constituents... This isn't new and it doesn't mean anything other then people are willing to pay a premium to hedge with index options as opposed to holding a basket . And commission is cheaper...
