1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

Do you have any info on Pete Stark supporting FTT? I couldn't find any. Are you sure you're not thinking of the other CA democrat named Stark, Fortney Stark, who co-sponsored 1068?

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

For me, this tax will most likely fall off my radar once its number one cheerleader is voted out of office on May 6. If he's not voted out, then the next key date will be the Nov elections when the GOP should pick up more seats. I don't put much weight in the IMF report, since we see "important"...

give the guy a chance -- four years is not a long time having said that, IC, you start off stating that you plan on monitoring several contracts for the optimal short signals and now say you want trade CL at the moment the crude report is released . . . this is concerning.

For the most part, yes. In trying to figure out why certain signals look much clearer from the short side rather than the long side (trend pullbacks being a good example for me), I've concluded that the bias must be buried deep in my (our) subconscious and/or genetics. It does make some sense...

    DSL vs. Cable question

I've never used Time Warner's service, but I currently have Comcast cable internet and ATT DSL. For daytrading/scalping, I use DSL since it has proven to be more stable than cable internet over the long run. My DSL service has never gone out on me while trading. If you decide to go with ATT...

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

Well look what we have here -- a very rare anti-FTT article from none other than the Guardian -- never thought I'd see the day. The best part is all the people freaking out in the comments section that such an article would be written on that site, and the author of the article responding to...

i turn the text off and just leave arrows and it doesn't clutter up the screen too much -- you can also turn off both arrows and text -- i don't think you can just plot the entry and not the exit

From article: "Within 24 hours they say they traced the spamming to two computers, one allegedly registered to Goldman Sachs. " Absolutely hilarious if true!!!

I would be careful about posting any comments on that site, but if anyone can't resist the urge to try to set 'em straight, then please at least try to come off as being judicious and restrained (i.e. not a pissed off trader). A bunch of anti-tax comments might get them even more fired up...

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

Tonight at 00:05, the UK charities will be launching the Robin Hood tax. They chose 00:05 because it represents the rate they want to tax transactions (0.05%). To get a head start on them, I'll be launching the Don Quixote tax at 00:00 -- a time that represents the rate at which transactions...

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

May 6th can't get here soon enough! We can expect a fresh surge of articles and blogs postings about this tax once these people kick off their campaign tomorrow. Even reporters/bloggers in the US will point to this as some sort of surge in FTT momentum. I'll be doing my best to try to...

    Latest Broker Ratings...Is A Joke

I've always been really surprised that ET doesn't actively moderate that part of their site. They should do something to clean it up so people could actually take it seriously.

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

Anyone have any idea what this is supposed to mean (from above article): "The “Robin Hood Tax” would not be levied on banks' transactions with high-street customers, but on those between financial institutions. " Also, to the Brits following this thread -- this new FTT campaign is...

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

This same website -- The New American -- also published another story today predicting that both Geithner and Goldman Sachs will reverse their positions and actually support a FTT in the near future. I'm not posting a link to that article because I don't want them to get the traffic from this...

Finally, I got rid of AT & T

Are you talking about DSL, landline, or wireless service? I have ATT DSL and Comcast cable internet and find DSL much more reliable for trading (i.e. never lose my connection with DSL unlike cable internet).

It sounds like the voting process may just have started. From CNN: "The vote was expected to start at 3:20 p.m. ET" Update: they're currently voting on ending the debate, so actual vote probably won't occur until after close afterall.
