    questions on counter trend system

Ok, I am sorry if I wasn't clear and thanks to everyone for trying to answer. I guess I am the first who isn't really clear about what the problem is. I hope people can go on discussing their ideas, despite the fact that I am not solving my problem. I just wanted to know how you could measure...

    questions on counter trend system

No one is actually taking the time to read my post or understand my question...thanks anyway.

Not true. Impossible. That's not what I said. That's not my question. Thanks anyway.

    questions on counter trend system

In the picture I attached you will see two types of trading days. On the first example day the price goes straight up, and on the second example it goes up, bounces against resistance and comes back down, and back and forth. Neither day is a trend day, or a breakout day, so they could...

    trailing stop vs. take profit

Thanks to all for the advice. I would like to say my final word on trailing stops, and particularly sum up my concept of "take profit plus trailing stop". I have been using it on my system and it works. There is no reason to not use a trailing stop of at least one tick after a given take...

    trailing stop vs. take profit

Thanks for the article and the advice, riskette. I know what you're talking about, when you say that an exit strategy has to incorporate as many things as possible, just like I would add an ideal system should be able to read the news and watch tv, and take everything into account. But...

    trailing stop vs. take profit

I do have tradestation, but this system was developed on excel and it uses too much data anyway to be backtested, at least as far as I'm capable of. I don't know how to create a trailing stop that's a function of volume and other variables. I think we're talking about too many variables here...

    trailing stop vs. take profit

Thanks to everyone for the advice. With regards to automating that "take profit that triggers a trailing stop", I have already done it, on excel. It's not that hard with vba, considering I have been working on this excel system for two years. What I find hard is finding the amount of...

    trailing stop vs. take profit

Well, personally I can't do discretionary trading in all its aspects, not just trailing stops. I was talking about trailing stops vs. take profits in a fully automated trading system. The problem could be entirely solved if I could just test it, but I am unable to, since I developed my system...

    trailing stop vs. take profit

I had no doubts that a trailing stop would be better than a take profit, but I am having a very difficult time finding the right amount to allow for trailing, no matter what market. Did you have the same problem? It seems that actually a take profit gives better results. Unless we are talking...

Tax for non-U.S. citizens and non-residents

Ok, I asked the same question elsewhere on Italian financial forums, and here's the answer. You totally have to pay taxes to Italy's government, no matter where you have the account, and no matter what the nationality of the derivatives you have traded is (if you are trading futures and so...

Tax for non-U.S. citizens and non-residents

Ok, no taxes to the US, but what about my country? That's why I was asking other people in my situation (non citizen and non resident, if possible EU citizens).

Tax for non-U.S. citizens and non-residents

I have a tax question for all those on this forum who are non-U.S. citizens and non-residents. I have an account with IB, and I am a citizen and resident of a EU country. From what I read, it seems that, besides filling out some US forms, since I only trade futures (no dividends...

getting rid of grey area in excel charts

Well, I suggest you read manuals, specifically on this subject: Import External Data, Web Query. I can't do it for you. I read the manual myself. I suggest Walkenbach's manual, "Microsoft Office Excel 2003 Bible".

getting rid of grey area in excel charts

YES!!! You're unbelievable. After all these people trying, including myself, you nailed it! That's it. It had to be a Japanese to solve it. After all, it's also a Japanese who wrote an Excel version of Space Invaders and Pacman: http://www.geocities.jp/nchikada/pac/

getting rid of grey area in excel charts

Thank you. I don't completely agree, because my thing worked with the first method, that is, by creating a chart a new sheet, and not by dragging a chart on an existing sheet and customizing it. The (second) picture is there to prove it.

getting rid of grey area in excel charts

Well, yes, all you need is a web site that gives you new data, and then you can make Excel chart whatever you want. You could even have Excel plot a chart based on the temperatures in a given city, or the wind, as long as the web site keeps giving you new data.

getting rid of grey area in excel charts

Thanks for the advice. It does improve things a little bit, but it didn't solve the problem. The only way I could find to solve this problem is by going home, using my Excel 2002, US English settings, (vs. Excel 2003, Italian settings, at work), and simply open the file. The chart opened up...

getting rid of grey area in excel charts

Well, thank you, but that is not the problem I was referring to. I am talking about getting rid of that area within excel. It's not a matter of getting a nice picture, but rather of how excel works.
