Send a 40K check to anyone who makes less than 150K

Surely you can detect the hint of sarcasm here. Nobody actually believes the Fed is going to print our way to prosperity.

Send a 40K check to anyone who makes less than 150K

Don't get too technical on us. The bottom line is that we will all be rich if the government prints enough money. Seriously, the Fed should provide liquidity to prevent a bank run and that is it.

Send a 40K check to anyone who makes less than 150K

I am there with you. Wouldn't that "jumpstart" the economy? They might want to design a new $500 bill with Obama's picture. Will the bailouts ever end? Now the states are coming after money too. http://www.reuters.com/article/newsOne/idUSTRE5014F120090102

    Bet on Inflation?

It appears all nations are trying to devalue their currency. The only currency without a central bank is gold. If you believe in sharply rising prices then gold should also rise sharply.

The only solution: 50 year, 0% rate mortgages

They better solution is to just inflate away everybody's mortgage, credit card debt, student loans, and also inflate away the national debt. (tongue in cheek)

    Why don't Americans save?

Where did you live in the US? In Texas everybody is outside walking and running. Also, the gyms are packed. The problem is that nothing bad has happened here in so long that most are complacent. People are saving like crazy right now though.

Very good article. Thanks for posting. I have always believed the Yuan/USD peg was a major problem and will be a nightmare when corrected.

Consequences of Fed policy - serial bubble blowing, the next stage...

Lets say inflations suddenly ticks up to 3 or 4 percent.(USD value drops and import prices rise) How is it possible that the Fed can keep 30 year treasury rates at 2.5 percent? Nobody would buy them. Yes, we can suppose the Fed will buy every one of them with printed money but that will just...

Who buys the "Long term deflationary spiral"?

Here is a quote from Bananke's Deflation Speech in 2002 Thus, as I have stressed already, prevention of deflation remains preferable to having to cure it. If we do fall into deflation, however, we can take comfort that the logic of the printing press example must assert itself, and sufficient...

Dollar Carry Trade - Deflation due to capital flight?

Why would a foreign investor bring capital to the U.S with rates so mispriced versus the risk, and Obama, Frank and gang watching every move you make. Maybe there is something we are missing. It doesn't seem logical and surely after Obama takes office reality will set in with the USD...

Too broke to get a divorce?

My brother might be in this situation. He isn't broke, far from it. However, he has confided in me that he would like to get out of his marriage but there is no way he can sell his house! (phoenix) So he is just going through life with a spouse that causes him nothing but grief.

China says lending to US will not go on forever

I said "it appears" so no I don't have any proof. But, it does appear that dollar is tanking and the Euro is rising in the past week. The British Pound isn't rising. The commodity currencies aren't rising substanitally. So, it appears that somebody is selling dollars and buying Euros(and...
