looking to start trading es & nq

Okay, I got it...he recommends $5,000. Just got a little confused because another poster complained he would need $10,000 to trade YM. Yea, definitely would recommend at least $5,000, and even better $10,000 to trade one emini. You have to spell it out for me...kinda slow. hehe

looking to start trading es & nq

What am I missing here? Here's a .png of IBs' margin page. Sixth row down shows YM and an initial margin of $1,350. I don't trade YM, so I may be totally in left field about this. Thanks

    Free real time futures quotes

Probably the cheapest you're going to get to free "real time" quotes is open an account with a broker like IB and use one of the free charting packages like IBCharts or Medved QuoteTracker IB will charge you $10 bucks a month if you don't make any trades, but that's peanuts for quotes.

looking to start trading es & nq

Quote from axehawk: What are the fills like when trading the ES??? Very fast...(with IB) Can you ever get filled buying on the bid and selling on the ask? Sure...there's a program called TraderGuard Platinum that is designed to help you do just that. But, be aware though...

looking to start trading es & nq

Where did you see that? The minimum deposit for IB is $2000 and currently initial margin on a YM trade is about $1,300. (assuming you meant USD's)

Most widely used indicators for short-term directional

My guess is the Stochastic, MACD and Bollinger Bands are probably the top choices for most short term traders. As far as combinations go, I'd say all of the above together make a pretty powerful technical chart. I like to look for Div/Conv setups with the Stochastic and the MACD, and...

    Thinking to start trading EMinis

Good points by Hawker... I wouldn't risk more than 2% of my stake on any trade. So, with 5K, that's a hundred bucks. So, if you're risking a hundred bucks, try to make $300 when a trade goes your way. Expect to be right around 30 to 40% of the time(if you're good) Best of...

HeHe...when Trader Vic makes a trade, he goes to court! Quote:"The market is like a courtroom where you are the accused--innocent until proven guilty. That is, when you initiate a trade, you have to assume that you are right until the market proves you wrong. It proves you wrong when the...

    Chronicles of an Idiot

The best word I can think of is "flowing". For me, the tick chart is easier to "feel" and seems more natural. Especially when the market gets fast. I seem to be able to "see" the patterns easier. Of course, it's just personal preference. Before tick charts I used to like the 2 minute...

    Chronicles of an Idiot

Hey guy...oh yea, gotta have ticks. hehe Actually, the 133 tick chart (the one I prefer) wasn't that bad either, but the 210 was cleaner that day. See, I made 5 trades off the 133T. All winners and no losers...hehe

    Question about an option strategy...

Thanks guys, I just told him not to bother with it unless he plans on buying more stock anyway, and holding it for the long term. If he just wants to trade, then just go naked on both ends( a straddle or strangle) and don't bother with purchasing the stock. And of course, keep you're...

    Dell Refurbished
