    Trading while having a job.

Depending on where you get in, you can probably see on the chart what size move to expect from the stock, based on the last move. I personally use that profit target, whether it ends up being 2:1, or 4:1.

Demoralized. Is 14 losses in a row normal?

Thanks for all of the good advice folks. I found one of my main problems. I was trading the 5 minute moves at pullback, without taking the end of the 15 minute waves into account, which meant many of my entries were too early. I've seen people talk about using higher time frames, now I see why...

Demoralized. Is 14 losses in a row normal?

Is this out of 100 trades?

    Awesome, I will save this.

5 or 10 minute candles for intraday trends?

I've always used 5, but the 10 minute is looking more revealing now for seeing the trend. What are you guys using?

Demoralized. Is 14 losses in a row normal?

    This is over 3 days.

Demoralized. Is 14 losses in a row normal?

So I've been on an upward equity curve for the past 2 months or so, over about 200 trades. My general ratio is this. About 22% 2.7R winners, 20%partial winners(.5R), and 58% 1R losers. R=$460. This should leave me with about 6k profit per month on a 29k account. I achieved this on my smaller...

    There are no absolutes.

I'm at the point where I have come across similar setups that go in completely different directions. I've had some days in a row where the setup always went long, only to have other days where those setups went short. I do believe in finding a general edge, but I see very clearly now that it...

Was this order a direct sale between two parties?

58k shares were bought at 29.40, way below the current bid-ask. Is this an example of a sale between two direct parties?

Important times during a trading day

I personally trade 9:30-11am, the moves get much smaller after that.

Is anyone day trading with IB Portfolio margin account?

I'm sure they would work just fine. The important thing about DAS Trader for me is a custom hotkey where I can click a stop loss point, and it will automatically calculate share size based on how much I am willing to risk per trade. Are you aware of such a function on Lightspeed?

Is anyone day trading with IB Portfolio margin account?

The only thing I'm attached to is DAS Trader, so I am looking at Centerpoint Securities who has that platform option.

Is anyone day trading with IB Portfolio margin account?

They are driving me away with all this headache. I am a day trader with .10-.30 cent stops, there is no risk of a huge loss. If anything happens, I'm right there to close it out. I don't need them to protect me, and limit what I can do. It's very jarring to get orders rejected while I'm...

Is anyone day trading with IB Portfolio margin account?

I am curious what kind of margin they give portfolio accounts. Can't get a straight answer out of them because they always change it based on how risky they judge a stock to be, and how spread out your position is. Is anyone doing this on a daily basis, going in an out of single stocks? Trying...

    Risk management on breakout trading

I'm looking for something that can backtest my actual previous trades, and just manipulate the exit points to test different results.
