    Don's openings Part 4

4 longs today, all small winners. Took all the retailers off my list, but forgot HD. Made a few pennies in it. Made about 30 cents before commissions. Hey Robert, can you tell me why I only got 15 cents out of HRB on Friday when I was short 1900 shares and it fell almost $3 without a...

    connection

If you subscribe to FirstAlert from them, it is delivered over a Citrix connection. I don't know the details of the in-office connections, but I'm pretty sure all remote guys connect through the internet. I know one who has a T1 into his house, but it's still internet.

    Don's openings Part 4

7 shorts and 3 longs, UTX and CB accounted for all the losses as they both just hammered me instantly, for about -.40 each. Then to add insult to injury I covered my 1900 shares of HRB along with all my other shorts when it looked like the spoos were going to run up. Booked 15 cents on it but...

    Tomorrow is going to R O C K !

Today was one of the deadest most boring days I can remember in quite a while. You could have flipped a coin at any time to guess which way the market was going to go. I don't think you can attatch much importance to today.

    Don's openings Part 4

It was an example, I was making that up. If you saw the action in the last half hour today in the newspaper stocks, you'd probably want to run the other way. They were cratering big time, down a couple bucks in a matter of minutes. As for triple witch the only thing I'm doing different is...

    Don's openings Part 4

Checking the news means more than just reading the headlines. You need to know what sectors your stocks are in and who else is in them. Unless the news is just fluff, I will usually cancel whole sectors at a time. A very big help for me in doing this is realmoney.com's morning briefing...

    Don's openings Part 4

Don, your BAC example is what I was refering to in my earlier post on slingshot orders. You are saying that you dumped your whole 2000 share position on that slingshot fill? Is that what you normally do, put your whole position out there looking for a slingshot fill? I got some of that .70...

    Don's openings Part 4

I debated taking defense off my list before today's open because they were down pre-market on the iraq news. Didn't do it and took a loss in RTN, but got out quick, not much damage. I did take all oils off the list though. I had HI and COF long, dumb me didn't realize the connection to the...

    Don's openings Part 4

I had 6 longs and 7 shorts on about 65 stocks. 3 losses and a scratch, the rest were winners. Made $1.03 before commissions.

If your trading is influenced by the charts you see on cnbc, you'll make it to the poor house on your own.

    Don's openings Part 4

Don, Are you exiting all or only part of your positions with slingshot orders? Sometimes the first print is the start of a great trend and if you are all out with a slingshot order, you can leave an awful lot on the table. I always use slingshot orders, but usually for only about 1/3rd of...

    Don's openings Part 4

There were a few on my list today that had some news, but not what I considered to be that bad. I just widened the envelope in those stocks to 1.5-2%. I was also lucky to catch the mcd news right before the open. On HI- he used to be such a great stock to get short, but lately has been a...

    Don's openings Part 4

Hey, all in good fun, I know what you're saying. What I meant was that the exit is the key to making money. All the fair value, beta, envelopes, etc makes up a small part of the whole strategy, even though it's what everyone focuses on. That's why 10 guys could do all their calculations...

I run Sterling on a P2 400mhz with 256MB and 3 monitors and it works fine. I have time and sales and level two windows open for about 30 stocks. I also have a couple web browsers and a squawk box running on this computer. I run charts on a different, new machine.

HA!! Now THAT is funny. You're a real cut up, Uptik. Even been short 7000 shares of stock and have the futures ripping higher right in your face, but experience tells you you should hold on? Nah, no psychological element there. It's just the exit you've got to worry about, piece of cake...
