Floor trader's income on Wall Street Warriors

"Brokers cannot trade for themselves and their clients because of potential conflicts of interest. ie taking a good trade for themselves before filling their client's order." That is why they open accounts in the name of their mother-in-law or offshore accounts.

IB TWS is the most confusing trading platform I have seen

"They planted a hand in the butt = The bar changes on the right edge of the IB chart, but the price of the last trade is on the LEFT of the chart (not to mention the time is delayed). A trader has to move his head from right to left and then from left to the right and then from right to the left...

IB TWS is the most confusing trading platform I have seen

IB's good commission rate, the almost free (compared to other's) data feed and the universal account feature make it a good all around deal. The free charts are not so great, so what? Use a compatible charting software. I am using Sierra, fed by IB data.

How do you know if you're getting better at trading?

trader_david Price movement is very repetitious and the same patterns appear very frequently on micro scale (30 sec, 1 min) charts on all liquid futures contracts. Why don't you master trading just one pattern? Of course you need defining criteria, but once you have that you can...

    Audits

Best to deal with this in person. Be well prepared with your documents and walk into the nearest IRS office to talk to them. The front offices of IRS are staffed by customer friendly, helpful people. If the particular person that is attending to you can't give an answer ask to see the manager...

Which stocks tend to come really close to a strike price on option expiration dates

Study the max pain theory threads on ET. According to this at expiration the underlying will settle at or around the strike price that has the largest open interest. The theory goes, if I get it correctly, that because most of the writers are pros they are forcing the underlying to the...

Spitzer' Gal a shared Asset - it's getting better

Chanos has multiple times more then he can handle I am sure. I tend believe Chanos. The irony is Spitzer could have had it free. Once I was in a power position in an art related enterprise and the women were absolutely throwing themselves at me (and this was not even about money). I...

Schaefer's Journal of Nikkei 225 Mini.

Schaefer, I Enjoy reading your thread. I started trading n225m through IB last summer, mainly to get familiar with overseas markets and to be able to place orders in emergency type situations. When I first set up the data feed and logged on I typed in n225 and immediately made a one tick...

    Stochastics

Stochastic is a useful tool if it is combined with some trend indicators like channels or moving averages which define a trend and used to pinpoint when a countertrend move exhausts itself. It works even on a micro scale in liquid markets down to the 30sec barchart level in ES and CL It...

How do people trade in the pits?

(Late 70's early 80's) I lost my wedding ring in the pit. I was newly married and the ring felt confining so I have put it in my shirt pocket. Sometimes later I have reached down to the steps for some slips that were knocked out of my hand and the the ring fell out. One of my most...

Can stock mutual funds hedge with futures?

If they had to wait to unload actual stocks it would make a difference at the opening, to say the least.

Could be that "they" are holding it up so that they could unload?

Can any one advise me WHEN (New York time) European markets open?

DAX, ESTX250 futures open at 2:00 EST and the markets and indices at 3:00 EST. Normally the futures are not that busy until the exchanges open at 3:00 EST but today it should be busy from the get-go. If someone not familiar with the futures would want to get involved or hedge the ESTX250...
