How do stocks have such high daily volume?

    1. Yes, there are huge volume trades by those with BIG bucks. 2. You have been told volume is an important factor in trading. The Bozo whot told you that is wrong. KISS, baby! (Part of KISS is "no volume".) :)

Calculation of Continuous Futures Contracts--Failure for September NQ contract

The adjusters might mitigate the gap, but I doubt the gap had anything to do with topping. If it does, you'll see it in the cash chart.

Calculation of Continuous Futures Contracts--Failure for September NQ contract

    1. I don't have an explanation as to why "no gap" into Jun contract and big gap into Sep. I could guess but that's all it would be. 2. The big adjusters in "fair value" calculation ares interest rates and time to expire. I don't know exactly which rate vehicle is used, but you get the idea...

Calculation of Continuous Futures Contracts--Failure for September NQ contract

The volume on the day the next contract becomes front month is almost always light/very light. Sierra Chart does an automatic rollover to the next contract if that option is selected. They used to do it on actual rollover day... but they recognized the low volume and now do the roll on the...

Calculation of Continuous Futures Contracts--Failure for September NQ contract

With ZIRP for the last several years, there wouldn't be much of a gap in the futures at the start of a new quarter. Now with rates up, large gap. (There were gaps before... just small enough that you didn't notice.) Not one to tell another how to do his business, but for looks longer than a...

How to identify 2% club of succesful traders in ET?

Who are in the "2% club of successful traders?" That's easy. They are the ones that don't post their trades.

what else do i need to learn before trading

He/she must be young... the modern generation texts without proper calitalization, punctuation.. and uses all kinds of abbreviations they expect are universally understood. I was once chastised for "using too much punctuation". Well.. punctuation is all about clarity... and is the difference...

"Technical Analysis Doesn't Work... TA Sucks", you say?

$2 is a HUGE historical price level, so players are playing it. Odds are, IMV, even if price dips below it's likely to come back to $3-$4, minimum... and maybe even $6-$10. "Buying down" at this price and lower is not "averaging into a losing position"... rather it's "accumulating shares at a...

"Technical Analysis Doesn't Work... TA Sucks", you say?

Well... in 2020 Natty made a low of ~$1.40. Could be going there again, who knows?. But so long as NatGas "ain't going away"... odds of making bank on buying current and even lower prices is high, IMV.

Looks like players sold out of Semiconductors and went short at Direxion..?

Sold out of SP also. Bold.

Inherited IRA - Anyone ever have one?

The old deal was too good. The IRS had to "fix" it. :)

Inherited IRA - Anyone ever have one?

There is a required RMD (Required Minimum Distribution) for "IRA inherited by someone other than spouse". The IRA is required to be fully distributed within 10 years. Here's a link to get you started...

Will Congress repeat the 2011 "Gov Shutdown" again ?

I dismiss the entire thing as a "tempest in a teapot".... all posturing for political gain and greed... but nothing material comes of it in the end.

Will Congress repeat the 2011 "Gov Shutdown" again ?

Unless there is a "genuine" default... where the government says, "we're not going to pay on our obligations"... then it's all Kabuki theater.

    Double top today?

This market is fine for skilled traders. But for investors who want to make a longer term commitment... we're in "no-man's-land".

    Double top today?

As a technician, you "know only what you see". That said, the "celebrated 4200 break" is not yet a done deal. Market would need to hold >4200. Until then it's a "possible false upside break/double top". And even if 4200 holds as support, there is 4325 just above... the "61% Fib...

"Technical Analysis Doesn't Work... TA Sucks", you say?

Opposing forces in NatGas market. On the one hand, the market is facing "very high" supply. On the other hand, market appears to be discounting efforts to "reduce production" to alleviate the oversupply. FWIW... trade accordingly.
