I currently run two CRT monitors on my trading machine. I am considering buying two flat panels. Is there a problem with mixing two CRT monitors (21") with a pair of flat panels to make a four-monitor setup? Is this okay, or do all four monitors need to be the same (CRT or flat panel)...
chas,
I went to the first five Online Trading Expos, and thought they were great and well worth my time and effort to go.
The most valuable part of the Expo, in my opinion, was keeping in touch with my business acquaintances and contacts in the industry. It provides a great meeting...
The first four letters of the symbol should be a great indication on why this stocks trades wierd... => It's not REAL!
However, if it were real, I think I could RULE THE FREAKIN' MARKETS!!! :D
Not sure how so many knowledgeable people can have such differing views on what the Premium is, or how it is calculated. The only explanation I can imagine is that different people use this term in different ways, as it applies to the futures and cash markets.
As I mentioned in an earlier...
You are correct. This is merely a live 'rollout' of SuperMontage using totally 100% fake stocks, like TESTA, TESTB, etc., to work out the kinks in the SM system without having real dollars at risk for anyone. Note that a group of new 'test' stocks have been created for this 'rollout'...
Sorry, steve, I'll have to agree with Vikana on this one. The PREM is the current 'premium' at which the futures trades over the cash index. It has absolutely nothing to do with fair value. The fair value is the expected, or 'appropriate', premium based on the things that vikana...
Reminds me of the old TV commercials...
"Bo knows football...
Bo knows baseball..."
=> Bo knows the stock market??? Go Bo!!! Great call yesterday! I'll look forward to seeing you on CNBC sometime. :)

Don,
What route do most of your traders use to access NYSE? While I have been trading Nasdaq for years and tens of thousands of trades, I have only done a handful of NYSE trades. The biggest downside of NYSE, from my ignorant opinion, is the slow speed.
What routes do your traders find...
After a power failure here in Virginia a month ago, I went out and bought a generator to use as backup power. At ~$1000, it was cost effective to keep my trading up and running during the next power failure. If you trade actively from home, as I do, this may be a good 'investment' for you to...
Maybe I should clarify... Since my trading is automated, I am able to execute a large number of trades every day. For example, today I executed 1600 tickets, at least half of which were posted limit orders on ISLD. Out of these 800 filled (or partially filled) ISLD orders, I probably had at...
Two reasons:
1) Odd lots! (frequent problem with posting ISLD orders)
2) Lower liquidity rebates (0.0011 ISLD versus 0.002 for ARCA) for those providing liquidity.
Despite these two downsides, I prefer ISLD as well. I send all of my non-marketable limit orders to them.

Complexity:
Thank you for the great information on ECN speeds. I am also involved with automated trading, but have not yet implemented systems to continuously track ECN speed. Your data is a huge help, and very timely for me.
I've noticed lately that when trying to get rid of odd lots...
Six figures a month can mean $100,000 per month. Therefore, over six figures a month means >$100,000 per month... Could be $122,000 per month, or several million. I suspect the poster was implying something closer to the former.

Thanks for the information.
I guess the Gann angles I have seen on one charting package were programmed incorrectly. On that system, if you zoomed in or zoomed out on the data, you would get entirely different locations for the support/resistance fan lines.
Thanks again,

Interesting article in today's business paper. Quoted from wire reports, the article discusses the losses incurred by various state penson funds as a result of the WCOM stock and bond debacle.
The New York state penson fund has lost an estimated $300 million, California: $565 million...
I'm still not sure I understand... For example, let's assume we are looking at a 15 minute chart on MSFT. What would be the appropriate 'standardized price/time grid'?
I assume that the x-axis would be time, with each grid unit equaling on 15 minute bar. On the y-axis is price, with each...
