An Inconvenient Truth: Gore is wrong

Personally, I lean towards the argument that global warming is real, and impacted by human factors. I could certainly be wrong by this view, but that's the view that I lean towards. That said, my frustration is that the constituancies that push the global warming issue are the same ones...

    Returns and Drawdowns in Trading

I mostly trade stocks, but some futures, with timeframes of a few minutes to several hours. That's true, and I already do put well over 10x as much capital to work these days, versus the late 1990's. However, after a number of years of minimal account withdrawals (taxes and small living...

    Programming for Traders

I think that this sort of book would be extremely useful for some traders. However, I suspect that the total number of potential traders interested would be too small to warrant the effort, IMO. You have to think about your total book sales required to make it worth your time... I suspect...

    Returns and Drawdowns in Trading

One thing that I'm sure he doesn't have is a huge pile of capital that must be 'put to work'. This is a big disadvantage for the CTA's / fund managers, since they incur increased slippage on filling their orders in less liquid markets. I have had annual returns of 50-150% per year for many...

    Genesis securities?

Overall, I don't know of a firm that can keep up with them. However, it is true that their customer service level has slipped as they have grown. -Eric

Scalper 250 to 500 trades per day

Yes, I agree. YOUR way is really the only REAL way to trade. I bow down to your wisdom. One thing that still confuses me... What is a scalper is able to make substantially more money with less drawdowns using his/her technique than the REAL traders? In that case, would it be okay to...

Scalper 250 to 500 trades per day

Successful short term trading, or scalping, is much like the roulette wheel in the casino. The successful trader takes the role of the house, and accepts bets from 'gamblers.' The odds on a roulette wheel may only favor the casino by about 3%, however, over a very large number of wheel spins...

Scalper 250 to 500 trades per day

This has never been a problem for me. I just list the security as "Various" and put the combined total purchase, sales and profit amounts in the appropriate column. The last thing the IRS wants is a flood of paperwork (my 1099 form for last year was over 1900 pages, as I recall, sent to me on...

why no discussion on realtick ?

Agreed. Also, I think that they stuck with an outdated pricing model too long. Their pricing model was based upon (roughly) a ~$250 monthly fee, plus a service charge out of every executed order. The service charge was a ticket based fee of something like $1 per trade, and they had no per...

    P.I.P.E portfolios

PIPE = Private Investment in Public Equity Typically, they are small relatively illiquid public companies that need money. They could do a secondary offering to the public, but this might take 6+ months to complete. Instead, they do a private offering of their shares (PIPE), selling their...

    Stops at Genesis

Excellent reply. I probably did come across a bit too hostile. Sometimes it getting annoying to see the same old criticism leveled time and time again. I think you hit the nail on the head though. No firm can be everything to everyone. I've been with Genesis for 16 months (as a client...

    Stops at Genesis

Just to clarify, although I don't trade NYSE frequently, I am almost certain that Genesis has stop loss orders available on NYSE stocks. As far as Nasdaq stocks, Genesis offers every single order type and order variation supported by Nasdaq (which is why the always have Nasdaq Platinum...

    Stops at Genesis

    Stops at Genesis

I never said that some active traders may not also employ stops in their trading. However, I stand by my believe that stops are mostly required by lower volume traders. -Eric

    Stops at Genesis

If I had to guess, I'd say that stop orders are most frequently needed and used by lower activity traders, the type that needs to place a stop loss order and leave the computer for hours at a time. Genesis caters to the much more active traders, for whom stop orders are not an important feature.
