    Here is Hope

Imagine a society in which anyone receiving government benefits or aid would be barred from voting. Sure, there are a percentage of the population who paid into the system and receive those benefits in old age, and would have to be accounted for. However, think about how different the...

Despite shitty economy, unemployed Americans refuse to take farm jobs

Right, the populus of this country suffers from a collective Stockholm Sydrome. They hear their overlords constant propoganda and without a shred of resistance gradually believe it to be in their best interests. But it goes deeper than that. What we have in play nowadays are generational...

Which phase are we in right now for equities ?

Thru the prism of the last 10-15 years, quite possibly...but nothing we are witnessing can be put into a clean and tidy historical perspective. The link to the article about midnight shoppers is a good metaphor, without permanent government stimulus, it's absolutely anybody's guess as to what...

Wall Street II is a Disaster

The real issue is the movie suffers from incredibly poor timing. Had this been released 2-3 years ago, I think they'd have had a more captive audience. Instead, I firmly believe the public has a great deal of either apathy or total disdain for anything Wall Street at this stage of the game...

Actually, what´s the target of FED´s policy now ?

It's about keeping Washington D.C. and New York alive and well, at all costs, to the rest of the country. Just a continued consolidation of power.

    TEXT on desktop/screen

Are you talking about the type of application graphic artists use to draw on top of the screen? That would be a Wacom tablet.

Is this 1975? or did the OP just awake from a prolonged coma?

What did the Fed say or do to cause the deleveraging?

I sincerely doubt the crisis could have been "avoided" considering the 2001-02 crisis WAS avoided, in some sense of the word, from spiraling into a persistent recession/depression thru the leveraging of the real estate sector. The more honest response is that 2008 occurred primarily because it...

    S E R I O U S Tea party discussion, Republican implosion.

Anybody who still uses the "conspiracy theory" bullshit as a retort is an idiot of the highest order. It's a remarkably convenient way of ignoring any conflicting information and re-shaping the evidence to support a pre-determined conclusion. Why waste time with an asshole like yourself who...

    S E R I O U S Tea party discussion, Republican implosion.

Honest question. Why as a Canadian, do you continue to refer to US politicians as "we"? Shouldn't you be stating "they".

History Channel documentary debunks all 9/11 conspiracy theories, 1 by 1

"lame, ulterior motives" like perhaps the fact that we run a war economy and that completely dissecting the "story" would essentially further tear apart the fabric of this country. Not to mention that the conglomerates that own the media are basically a de-facto part of the government. Go...

    Thank you tea party

The reality is that politics are fast becoming just a ping pong match, back and forth between extreme elements of each party. It's a completely reactionary based electorate, who vote on a campaign of "change" every election cycle. Both parties have wild swings in popularity and thrive solely...

History Channel documentary debunks all 9/11 conspiracy theories, 1 by 1

Who controls the media? Tell me the money behind all of the major news agencies. You are basically implying that the media are these truth seekers who would go to great lengths to expose the "story of the century". Please, that's complete nonsense. They go to great lengths to promote...

My Computer Expoded - Have $2k budget for new computer

4 8800 gt's in one box? That must be draining a bunch of power. I have a 9800gt, but just one, not a slew of them and even that is recommended at around 450W+.

Volume going down big as fewer fools get suckered into frequent trading?

While the Fed tries to incite inflation through all their usual trickery, their policies are really draining the populus dry. What effect do you think ZIRP is having on people trying to get by on their savings when they can earn next to no interest, while stocks zig zag sideways for years at a...

My Computer Expoded - Have $2k budget for new computer

True. I think the bigger issue is that many of these big box companies do their best to limit the upgradeability of their stock systems. Unless you really overpay, you are limited to alot of mediocre components, with bad PSU's, minimal amount of RAM and integrated graphics. So alot of...

My Computer Expoded - Have $2k budget for new computer

I think that's a bit extreme. You do realize that the big box manufacturers have had untold number of pc's that went "pop" as well, blowing out PSU's and destroying all the components as well. It's got far more to do with faulty engineering on the components side than a poor assembly.

My Computer Expoded - Have $2k budget for new computer

In that case, probably not. What it could be is a "heat" issue. I'd check to see what the core temps are when you get up and running at normal load. Perhaps, the interior has collected alot of dust or the heatsink and cpu fan aren't properly cooling the system and once it reaches a certain...

My Computer Expoded - Have $2k budget for new computer

Yes, has happened to me before with a crap PSU. Took the mobo out as well. Honestly, I think it should be a top priority for any build. Top of the line PSU's for use (outside of gaming) are available in the $60 range with modular connections, etc. (But I don't advise going to Best Buy...

My Computer Expoded - Have $2k budget for new computer

I'd bet it was the power supply unit. I'd be curious to know the manufacturer of the OP's PSU just for curiosity's sake. Such an overlooked piece of computer hardware, but it's a killer when it goes.
