    From Stocks to ES

The lack of discipline is what got me for a while with Eminis. With stocks, there are a whole lot of them out there to scan for "your" set up. With eminis, for the most part, there is ES,YM,NQ and you have to wait for "your" set up. After I realize that if I just wait for my set up with...

Did my first 100 lot today

For what it is worth: I traded a simulator until I saw that my method produces. Meaning: from where I entered a trade, the trades went into my favor with enough winning % and enough risk to reward that over time, $ is being made. Knowing that this method produces $, I started trading 2...

Did my first 100 lot today

Your step by step walk through of your thoughts during this trade was a great read. There's actually a nice lesson or two here. (or more) I'm sure different people will get different things out of your post. You showed how emotions need not be in trading decisions. Your planned entry and...

dbphoenix, I see what you're saying. You use volume heavily in your analysis. Thanks for sharing your perspective.

Please explain how you see this as not being support. What I see is a predetermined area of possible support and price action bouncing when it reached this area. I suppose it depends on your timeframe but a 40 point bounce on YM (approximately) is a nice move on YM intraday.

This trendline also coincided with regular session trendline.

    Gary Smith challange, any taker?

This is an interesting statement coming from someone who is, from what I gather, respected in the industry. If I was starting out trying to daytrade index futures, this statement might discourage me. I hope that any newbies that read anything on this website, from any person, takes it all...

    Gary Smith challange, any taker?

If you doubt that one can trade for a living then why are you involved in this website ? It must be because you want someone to show you that trading can be a source of income to make a living off of. Or you have nothing better to do and have some internal conflicts. I would guess to...

    Winning in the EMinis

Exactly. Nothing wrong with sharing ideas. Take things for what they are. If you don't get something out of a journal, or anything in the world for that matter, CHANGE THE CHANNEL.

    S/R

erieramber Your charts are showing 24hr data. Gaps will occur on regular session charts and gaps will provide great S/R because of the 'gap filling' phenomenon. 'Gaps filling' is a whole other discussion though.

Speaking of S/R, how do you use gaps for S/R ? They seem to be quite powerful. See charts:

    pullback >< reversal

I trade reversals. One thing that helps me is to not look for reversals. I look for price to continue every time it pulls back to a trendline, support, resistance, moving average, or whatever you like to look at. When it pulls back to one of these areas and then shows signs of not...

    Trend Trading Styles

I learned to trade reversals after failing at trading breakouts. Failed breakouts taught me tons about the strenght of S/R at intraday and previous day high/low.

    S/R

Exactly, and over time you learn that some lines produce these actionable conditions more than other lines. Like, the more important higher timeframe lines, S/D's or whatever you would like to call them. This is what I do for my swing trading too. I look for daily major S/R in the form of a...

    S/R

I'll draw new trendlines during the day if any of the time frames make important new highs or lows or pivots. For example the attached chart shows 15m all session chart with trendlines drawn based on new intraday action. The new S/R that formed during the day could assist on target areas or...

Here's my 15m regular session chart marked up and ready for 1/29. I also do the same on an all session chart and for 60m, 30m and 5m. Adjusting during the day when necessary. Would love to see some more of your charts too.

That NQ support around 1515 was good support from 1/13 and 1/15 prior lows.
