The intelligent man is not greedy or fearful

one can get rid of fear by facing it. one must be willing to take the pain of facing it, because one's perception of failure will be experienced and fortitude will be tested.. but afterwards, one realizes the fear was overrated. basically, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

    Don Bright's "Core Positions"...

the core position begins by identifying a trend. as don says, i have my "children" stocks and sectors that i follow day in and day out and i know their trend. unfortunately, stocks do not move up or down in a straight line. so one can hold on to a core position and trade around, adding and...

    cRUDE awakening?

more importantly, natural gas futures hit highs before coming back in, probably sell the news situation on the weather forcast. crude oil is still bearish, and distillates/heating oil isn't as bullish as most of north american heating is done with natural gas. also, distillates has a diesel...

    Poll: Is the top in?

depends on strategy. understanding a basic multiday trend can amplify daytrading profitablility significantly (ie 6 figure day) by allowing one to size up. merely reacting to market price action is profitable too but there is a ceiling. however, when there is no trend, trading off current day...

    True or False

there is high probability of another bad day occuring immediately after a bad day cos typical trader has tendency to force higher risk trades to make back. hence, the trading advice to stay small when having bad day.

    Don Bright's "Core Positions"...

ditto. also, over 250 trading days in a year, you avoid massive total in slippage (it can add up significantly) and retain the superior entry point. this one concept changed my trading this year.

Bullish or Bearish on the future of Tape reading?

i was thinking that this is more a symbolic move to please the regulators and general public. i mean, listed arca trading has existed for some time now and so has island.. will the spec post more liquidity on the bid and offer via arca? i don't know what the big deal is.

join Group One / DRW Trading Group or Goldman as i-banking analyst?

i'd suggest you get into goldman sachs and then if trading appeals to you, you can request to change departments to their proprietary trading. happens all the time. i know computer engineers in their IT dept who shifted over to do alot of their quant trading work.

    USA Economy is strong ?

Gold is going higher cos there aren't many asset classes for foreign nations (China, asia, etc) to park cash. They continue to seek safe havens like US treasuries, which explains why the ten year yield has failed to rise. This is more a sign of global inflation than economic weakness.

$420,000 for each of Goldman's 22,000 workers worldwide

Support staff are required to finish tasks. There is no incentive for them to do more, hence the mostly crappy support staff at most companies in America. Guy who excels for most part gets paid the same as guy who slacks. Employee of the Month Award not worth it for most. Too bad they are...

    Housing Rolling Along 2

in nyc, it costs about a million for a 2 bedroom condo in midtown. assuming one puts down a decent down payment, about the same as leasing. $4,000/month.

    Housing Rolling Along 2

well that seems more dependent on local economy. where did these people who left in droves move to then? the mountains? could it be so easy for a family to foreclose on a million dollar home and then rent the same exact one for few hundred $ today? if so, everyone should just foreclose in...

    Housing Rolling Along 2

people who foreclose in "bubble zone" will need to rent, driving up demand and stripping rental supply. rent prices rise. assuming the economy gains steam. rental markets get hot. real estate investors w/deep pocket then shift gear and rent out their properties for income, rather than...

    Oil/Energy sector traders

basically, uptrending stock/sector keeps going up until it isn't going up anymore. corrections happen when current risk is being transfered to those who are willing to take higher risk to reward. (last spring, and october). but know in uptrend, shortside risk always rises at faster rate vs...
