Wall Street Traders Are About To Be In A World Of Pain Read more: http://www.busines

Sorry, but there's ALWAYS plenty of action in the markets, you just have to go looking for it. As for robots and the like, they might be a factor if you're dicking around for ticks here and there, but not if you trade say the 60m chart and upwards. Look at some of the big time stocks...

WTF is going on with IB?!?

Yes, due to the other posters it's probably all to do with new/tighter regs and yet more compliance. If you've got clients and aren't 100% with the regs/compliane, then you'll probably get them on your back. Retail clients doing plain vanilla trades probably aren't on their radar.

WTF is going on with IB?!?

The insider traders and those in the know will pick up on any problems well before the masses know anything. No different from Corzine's company, that stock got cratered a few days before the news got out. Do what I've done, put an alarm on IBKR at say $10, if it hits that, get the hell...

Trading PC FAQ - All You Need to Know...

I agree about Dell being good machines. I've always bought them, never had a problem. I liken them to Ford tractors, never going to win any prizes for looks but very solid workers. I use them out of the box, an i5 chip and 8MB ram, works a treat but I don't number crunch etc. And...

IB "snap mid" orders,Mid price orders are an essential money saving method of trading

If you're using IB and putting a lot of orders to work then you're wasting your time with their crappy order entry software. Use Button Trader, takes some time to get used to and work out how to program it (not hard, but takes time). I use it for FX and can get orders working within 0.5...

Too true. Probabilities suggest it will be far better for them than for you.....

Proves the definition of capitalism - The passing around of your money until there's nothing left...

Investment Banks Eye 'Hedge Funds for the Masses’

Yes, it is a great idea or the banks selling the funds. Sadly it won't be a good idea for the mug punters that buy. The term 'Hedge Fund' is just a marketing trick and it will be used to charge higher fees than normal. Never forget tht Wall Street is never on your side, it's always on their...

    Ben Bernankes statement tomorrow...

I don't know but I wish the stockmarket would go back to what's it's all about, ie deals, profits, corporate finance and the like rather than it all being about the central bank. And they wonder why the economy is not doing well...

The Fed Is Destroying Jobs: Ken Griffin

Good article in yesterday's WSJ about how it's 'quaint' that many still believe the government can help. The argument being of course that pretty much everything the government does, especially when relating to big problems, usually makes things worse. So the usuals screams of 'the govt MUST...

    IB Fined by CFTC

Yes I admit that's true. So if the share price drifts lower and eventually drops below $10 I will do NOTHING and sleep well. What I'm looking for though is if the price slams down, say 30% over a few days on NO official news. If that were to happen I'd be very worried and start to do...

    IB Fined by CFTC

Oh no, my broker's shareprice has got crushed for 30% over the last 4 days, nobody knows what's going on and there are unconfirmed rumours on the web that there's been some massive fraud or MF type problems. What shall I do? It will be a hassle to close my positions out and wire a large...

    IB Fined by CFTC

It didn't take long did it, the old message board put down - I'm better than you I make more money than you I'm richer and more succesful than you And on and on it drones. I still can't see why you're attacking my simple strategy, that being - If your broker's stock price moves...

    IB Fined by CFTC

No, it's not about good 'health' and it's never going to be. I don't think you're getting any of this... It's about POTENTIAL RISK, and there's a lot around at present with financial instutitons (key word: potential, and potential doesn't mean it's going to happen).

    IB Fined by CFTC

No, because it's not about the stock 'droping' per se. The banks also aren't tiny brokerages such as IB and MF which can be thrown to the wolves. You might think different but if IB goes to new lows, under $10 very quickly on NO news, then I don't want to find out there was a problem later...

    IB Fined by CFTC

Because that's an investment in the S&P 500 that's why. IB is a broker, I want to use their brokerage services, that's why I have an account with them. I don't think this is too hard to understand.

    IB Fined by CFTC

No, but it's as good as any strategy to work out if your broker is in financial trouble. Would have worked a dream with MF Global as the problems first showed up in the stock price...

    IB Fined by CFTC

I like IB, got no complaints but who knows what goes on with these broker/dealers behind the scenes? Here's what I've done to offer some pretty good protection against a serious problem with them (unlikely in my opinion but you never know these days). If there were to be a problem you...

Buffett on "speed dial" to Obama, bought GS then advised debt for U.S. future to +GS.

Buffet reminds me of the late Sam Walton. He used to ride around in an old truck saying 'I'm just a hillbilly, don't know too much'. Sorry but hillbillies don't build billion $ businesses from scratch. It's all an act. Same with many Irish businessmen (from Ireland, not the fake US...
