    Penny incements for options ?

Why is this representative of the true distribution of orders/cancels/fills, though? Could one not construct a scenario to show a loss to IB? IB: Do you make significant money on cancel fees?

    Penny incements for options ?

Option Trader: IB may make a fortune on cancellation charges. wilburbear: Strongly agree. Why do you think IB makes a profit on these charges? AFAIK, they are passed through from the exchanges. Any idea if NYSE/ARCA will adopt the same anti-competitive cancel fees, pacing restrictions...

Does IB have this feature ?

What you're looking for is traditionally called "Time & Sales". It's available in TWS (though not as nicely, yet) from charts. Right click on a chart and choose Time & Sales.

    Tips for new traders....

I don't think it's poor advice at all, and you make the point in the last 'graph. Newbies routinely imagine all sorts of conspiracies against them. The first step, before learning what's really happening, is to acknowledge that it's almost never some personal attack on the individual trader...

IB doesn't provide tick-by-tick streaming data?!

It is not inadequate for most purposes. I far prefer this snapshot approach to getting every tick. My other platform (Hammer@Assent) sucks a ton of CPU and bandwidth when the stupid bots start flailing around 10 times a second, even with just a few symbols.

    Is this trade legal?

Quote from Toonces: TradeStation, Nasdaq, 'intelligent', postmarket maybe 5PM. I called their trade desk, and they confirmed exactly what happened, saying that thier 'intelligent' orders go to brut first, trying to match orders within brut, even if the order would cross the market. The...

    Penny incements for options ?

Any idea if NYSE/ARCA will adopt the same anti-competitive cancel fees, pacing restrictions, anti-retail-MM rules, etc. of the other exchanges?

    Is This Options Strategy Realistic?

Since nobody has said it yet, I will. You really need to read, and understand completely, a basic options primer. I think you misunderstand the nature of options as being simpler than they really are, ignoring the concepts of time value and volatility, not to mention things like...

IB now treats SSF like stocks

It has to do with them changing from trading the SSFs in the commodity sub-account to the equity sub-account, the benefit of which is to allow lower margin rates for carrying some types of positions. See the June 9th email. I also think it gets you SIPC protection now, though I don't see that...

    Getting filled right away

Where was the order routed, and were there any other bids from that route at the time? For example, if NYSE was the only venue at the inside bid, and your order was routed to ARCA, it's entirely possible that someone chose to hit you on ARCA for an instant fill instead of sending it to the...

Broker Lied To Me To Force Me To a Margin Call.

All that aside, using words like "lie" and "theft" in this situation is completely inappropriate, and is likely to get you absolutely nowhere with the broker, particularly since, as others have said, they have nothing to do with the bust process unless they mishandled it after being notified by...

    Is this trade legal?

Who's the broker, and how did you route your order (i.e. "smart" or specific ECN)? Did it actually take the shares from BRUT and ARCA, or did it use BRUT to also take the shares from ARCA (i.e. what did the execution reports show)? What exact times? Naz or listed? It doesn't make sense for any...

anyone know the new sec fee rates

At http://www.sec.gov/news/press/2006/2006-64.htm : "In addition, effective Oct. 1, 2006, or 30 days after the date on which the Commission receives its fiscal year 2007 regular appropriation, whichever date comes later, the Section 31 fee rate applicable to securities transactions on the...

Is friday and monday half day trading

Someone posts one of these every American holiday (but not other countries' holidays - hmmm). Why not just look at the exchange websites for the official answer for the products you trade? Wouldn't it suck to be stuck in a position over a holiday because you listened to (incorrect) info from...

How to get a historical or theoretical volatility of index future

Why do you think the futures have a different volatility than the index? I suppose, on a per-minute basis, they might, but any difference in the daily (or longer) volatility would only have to do with procedural/time differences in the way the closing prices are reported, or singular incidents...

Senate Judiciary Commtt on Shrt Selling, hedge funds, and Analysis

Quote from alanm: Can someone comment on why this is the business of the judiciary committee? Apparently I should have made myself clearer by emphasizing judiciary. To answer my own question, according to http://judiciary.senate.gov/jurisdiction.cfm , within their jurisdiction is...

Why do some brokers prohibit sell, and then assign?

Quote from rabmanducky: I mean why do some brokers don't allow clients to buy a stock and then excercise a put. Who? Why not? As long as you have the money to buy the stock, why would they prohibit it? If you don't have the money, you'd be free-riding, and it should be prohibited.

    who is stealing from me?

You're trading someone else's account without authorization being filed with the broker? That's pretty dangerous. If, OTOH, you have correctly filed a trading authorization, there should be no issue. It's not just the gender of the caller that has to be verified, after all.
