    Wild markets? Agree or disagree?

This is an opinion from Timertrac e-mailed to me: TimingNewsletter.com Friday, July 28, 2006 Broadcast Well, I predicted this real estate slump two months ago in a previous broadcast. It was reported two days ago that there have been more cancellations of home sales contracts than...

Volume and OI: some help needed

Meanwhile, this is what I found from Investopedia, quoted elsewhere: Investopedia Says: 1. A common misconception is that open interest is the same thing as volume of options and futures trades. This is not correct as demonstrated in the following example: On Jan 1, A buys an option, which...

Volume and OI: some help needed

Thank you much. Here's my difficulty with this: e.g. if you sell me 50 options, and I unload them a week later to another retail trader, the open interest would change by 100, even though there is only a net of 50 out there!!

Volume and OI: some help needed

Perhaps OI is expressed as net difference for position of specialist/MM. If this is correct, then these are my thoughts: If one retail trader bought 100 options and another retail trader sold 100 options, and the specialist is in the middle, I would think the net affect on OI is zero. But the...

DRL: seems to me an amazing buying oppty

    1. About half of the drop was because of the overall market. Do you have proof to apply such technical analysis when it totally contradicts fundamental analysis--rock bottom prices for a stock supposedly making good money with a viable business operation? E.g do you believe such a stock could...

DRL: seems to me an amazing buying oppty

We'll see who has the last laugh, you certainly had the first one. To the best of my understanding, the stock is making good money and is a viable business, and cannot stay this cheap for long. They're about to come out with their statement, then the uncertainty factor will no longer work...

    Penny incements for options ?

Given their competitive advantage in linking the option pricing to the underlying stock, it would be a pity if the retail customer couldn't at least get this one small advantage for their size trades. In short, you have my support.

Thank you again for valuable input. Perhaps a letter can be drafted, with fax or email of SEC, and tens or hundreds of ET's can place their objections.

Oil sand stocks, reality after all the "pumping"

CALGARY, Alberta (Reuters) - Oil sands developers may have to rework or delay projects to avoid massive cost overruns, analysts and investors said on Thursday, after Shell Canada Ltd said expanding its Athabasca Oil Sands Project would cost billions more than earlier estimates. Western Oil...

IB: How to understand "Accrued Interest"

Okay. This email from IB rep (see bold) is what led to the confusion. Dear Trader, As your account earns interest each day during the month, the earned interest calculations are booked to a special “Accrued Cash” sub-account, one for each currency. Every day, the new calculations for...

IB: How to understand "Accrued Interest"

Some of you are being a bit touchy. Back to business. First a correction: what we noticed the balance did not increase when the accrued interest decreased was not what alanm said either, rather it was "Net liquidation value". This is from the link Def provided: "The results of the...

IB: How to understand "Accrued Interest"

Unless IB did something crooked, I don't think you are right; when the "Accrued Interest" decreased, the "Total Cash Value" did NOT increase the next day.

IB: How to understand "Accrued Interest"

Can anyone clarify when "Accrued Interest" updates into the total "Account Balance"? Is it at the end of every month, or the end of each day that the Account Balance will reflect the change? I thought IB had said the Account Balance updates at the end of each month, but had noticed in real...

    Penny incements for options ?

Some traders have few cancellations and lots of fills (e.g. buying at bid, selling at ask) and some traders change their orders, the net affect is the mass majority of canellations are neutralized between IB and the exchanges. Also, I believe IB charges for cancellations on all exchanges...

    Penny incements for options ?

One customer does 50 trade, 40 cancels, 10 fills, IB will charge him for 30 cancellations. Another customer does 50 trades, 40 fills and 10 cancels, IB will not pay him. WIth the exchanges, IB will not pay a dime, because it's 50 fills and 50 cancellations.
