Trader ID: Does the specialist know you are the guy....

Very true syndrom, but I don't think that necessarily proves that they know "who you are" (e.g. someone who is trying to close out a trade) and were after you.

Penny increments vs retail customer priority?

One of the ET members (Wilburbear), in a posting several months ago, said that unless contested at the SEC level, then at the time penny increments for options are implemented it may also mean that retail customers lose priority in line for options. Can anyone share where we stand with this...

Genesis Securities vs IB: Two questions

    1. IB has an Excel-type worksheet where you can jump from stock to stock, and order to order. Does Genesis enable this multi-trading feature as well? 2. In fast markets, it can be very important to quickly cancel or quickly place an order; how would you describe the speed difference between...

To do such a quantity would require highly sophisticated programming. I would imagine the program categorizes hundreds or thousands of different scenarios where statistics show traders are vulnerable and tend to lose money, and they can quickly make the necessary keystrokes one after the other...

IB - penny option pricing *now*

This just came from IB email: "To make the system more attractive, professional liquidity providers such as IB’s affiliate Timber Hill (one of the largest U.S. options market makers) and others will be able to post penny indications in the system for you to trade against, and will also have...

IB - penny option pricing *now*

Placed about 10 orders today with IB penny option pricing in the last half hour with some active options. They were all routed to BOX. Although BOX has price improvement, it seems to me that a normal order routed via ISE will get better fills for overnight orders (where it's my...

IB: Several seconds after cancelling an order...

Do you have the same experience with "replacements" of orders as opposed to simple cancellations? For example, instead of cancelling the order to buy at $10.00, replacing the order to instead buy at $9.50?

It's clear to me that a specialist/MM are able to identify the order comes from a retail trader. It also seems to me they know which broker is sending them the order. But are they also to identify that the same customer trying to e.g. "sell-to-close" is the one who earlier on "bought-to-open"...

I think IB missed my other question: Does this market share issue mean only IB themselves, or also includes brokers who send order flow to IB?

No word yet from IB. I hope I'm not getting the silence treatment. To bust a trade must be acted on relatively quickly.

IB: Several seconds after cancelling an order...

Shocking stuff. In checking the audit trail, the gap of time between the request and "Place order" and "Acknowledged" is zero to one second, throughout the report (a long report), say an average of 1/2 second. Suddenly, this one, the biggest of them all, was not acknowledged even two seconds...
