Repeal of the Uptick Rule: A Planned Program to Obliterate the Stock Market

One thing I dislike about the current situation is it's a lot harder to get a sense if the stock (i.e. thinly traded) just took a dip because someone was liquidated and now it's time to by, or if it's just shorts selling to themseleves between accounts.

Repeal of the Uptick Rule: A Planned Program to Obliterate the Stock Market

Actually, I also don't agree with this idea that each of these companies that went under was a sole result of the uptick rule being removed, albeit that definitely aggravated the situation and helped to create the panic we now suffer from.

Repeal of the Uptick Rule: A Planned Program to Obliterate the Stock Market

The SEC has historically played a leadership role during market crises to assure that the markets are fair and orderly. They have generally been creative and innovative in protecting the securities markets and financial intermediaries from manipulative conduct. This new failure of the SEC to act...

    Offsetting cancellation fees w/ IB

I get about $50 in cancellation fees per day average for options. This occurs in part because the cancellations are on GTC orders from the day(s) before, and are on ISE, but the fills for DAY orders of today are being placed on CBOE, hence I can't offset them. Is there not a way of getting...

    Market are conquering the world...

When you buy, the most likely counterparty to your trades is the market maker. Whenever he has a net short or net position, he uses his ingenious algorthims to bring the stock to his favor, and regardless of how many shares he sold till now at high prices. My theory regarding why the dollar...

May trade desk steal your trading strategies?

More like a strategy that works on a small basis, someone at the trade desk notices what your doing, implements the same strategy, and hence limits the opportunities.

May trade desk steal your trading strategies?

If someone from the trade desk sees you have a successful trading strategy, is there anything that would stop him from using the strategy himself? Practically speaking, would this be an advantage of IB (noting they try to automate everything) over another broker?

Brokers that provide margin for stocks under $3

Be careful even with a broker that goes down to $2, as it's an unnecessary risk to add to the trade to assume the stocks will in the short run always stay above a certain price. Currently, there is very little correlation between actual value of the stocks & the temporary market prices.

Until this issue is clarified and/or cleared up, I wouldn't want to trade time sensitive trades with TD Ameritrade even if it was for free.

    TD Ameritrade...

This also cost me as much as $3k of profit as well. This happened to me before the 6 business days they require for funds for a deposit to clear. Did you also have a special situation like that?

    TD Ameritrade...

I don't know if these guys have gone paranoid, but they seem to have quite a track record of keeping your orders pending for a long time to review them before finally submitting them to the market. I wired in funds to TD Ameritrade which just cleared on Friday, placed a trade today for a...

    Stay away from IB!!!

Nobody spends all this time knocking other brokers they don't like, only IB. This implies you still use them for some other reasons.
