Niederhoffer's year end contest! ($2500 prize for 3 best 2011 trading ideas)

How would I know what the excitement level generated by the reward is? What does it matter? It is what it is. Not every analyst/investor is a centi+-millionaire who sees 5k as having zero marginal value. I figure Joel Greenblatt (who runs the site) finds it worth his while to offer...

Valueinvestorsclub is another good one, I agree. However, you have to be accepted as a member, They do not let just anyone in. That average member there is of very high caliber (Professional/Hedge fund/very serious private investor).

    Where did the jobs go?

The American worker is seeing his lifestyle demolished by the cost of living arbitrage (off-shoring of manufacturing, clerical, support, and increasingly professional jobs) on one end, and immigration (both legal end illegal) on the other. Jobs are up for Immigrants with no expectation of a...

Suit against Picower (Madoff fraud's largest profiteers)

http://s3.amazonaws.com/propublica/assets/docs/picower/PicardvPicowerComplaint.pdf It appears to me there is rock solid evidence Picower was in on the fraud (Back-dated trades in brand new accounts, for example). Good insight on how the top level international financial criminals operate.

    Bernie Madoff's Son Found Dead

Anyone ever consider how they intended to bring this scam to a close? It seems with some planning the financial crisis would have been the perfect excuse to "wipe out" all those phony profits. The story could have been, "the huge tail event/credit crisis has devastated the even the...

    Bernie Madoff's Son Found Dead

Modern Monetary Theory - How the US Government really pays for things

Monetary manipulation is the problem, not the solution. This disconnect between savings and productive investment is itself one of the major problems of our economy. If has forced the general public to speculate in order to (attempt) earn a return, which as been a disaster. It causes...

Modern Monetary Theory - How the US Government really pays for things

The basic notion of the "New" theory seems to be the logical conclusion of Keynesianism when applied to a pure fiat monetary system. The conclusion seems to be that the state has more economic power (totalitarian, really) than most people realize. The misleading element is that this...

    RM's occasional market calls...

We had a few pet bunnies when I was a kid. One escaped from the cage and bred with a wild jackrabbit. Before we new it, dozens of these hybrid rabbits were all over the place, living under our barn, covering our lawn with excrement, and being a general nuisance. We had a few of these...

Picower estate to hand back Madoff billions

Ok, so that makes it 100% clear why he offed himself. He was a guilty, lying rat who could not handle the shame that would have showered upon him when this was made public in court.
