I thought I better post this because austrian economics is so popular

Inflation is a result of money supply, velocity and output. If you fix the money supply then inflation will fluctuate mainly with velocity, which in times like these will lead to severe deflation and negative feedback loops

I thought I better post this because austrian economics is so popular

I disagree. The reason objectivism and austrian economics are popular, specially with young people, is because they promise a lot, objectivists think they know everything so do austrians regarding economics. As a result its very seductive for people to join, they can choose the normal world...

$80B in assets, they didnt make the $100b cut. Doubt they will be allowed to fail tough, FDIC would need a bailout themselves if they had to cover depositors

The Credit Crisis Financial Stocks Short Journal

Meanwhile japan has been one of the hardest hit in the crisis One could say they suffer a cultural problem of not wanting to lose face and trying grand plans that might fail. That is true, however I'm of that opinion that its the responsability of the central bank to fade society and do the...

John Meriwether to shut HF after losses

It seems that you can 'invest' with Meriwether by simply shorting VIX futures. Everytime there is big trouble you lose money, if there is not you cash. No 2/20

Heres some more info on why I believe the BOJ is run by incompetents. Central banks balance sheets Even the ECB is being expansive even though they complain about it, meanwhile the Japanese are not turning on the print presses by enough. It just seems highly unlikely US CPI will be flatish...

The Credit Crisis Financial Stocks Short Journal

The goldman program conspiracies continue. One can just pull up a chart of the swiss franc and see what the SNB manipulation has resulted in. The franc is still up significantly, there is little doubt that the SNB could peg the franc at weaker levels if they wanted to, but that would require a...

Sweden's Central Bank drops deposit interest rate to negative

    Kudos to MMs

Very possible, I'm just not convinced yet output per hour will deviate much from its historical rate. After all someone in 1930 could been optimistic about a moon landing and a number of other major things and still that didnt change much. One thing that could change things for good in a huge...

Sweden's Central Bank drops deposit interest rate to negative

Looks like Swedish 1M government bills are yielding 0.2%, if I'm reading the central bank data correctly. Couldn't find a futures for their overnight rates

    Kudos to MMs

I agree that rates will rise but for different reasons. Productivity is likely to do what has done in the last 200 years, as measured by output per hour it goes up about 3% on average consistently. I'd be skeptical of joining some 'brave new world' of hope that productivity will do what it...
