Why do banks not use futures ? Logically, there they have to honour their quotes at all times and execute immediately. On platforms like currenex banks can hold orders and execute when it suits them. Futures are a level playing field for ALL market participants...

Genevaroth, You can find the spread statistics of Oanda on their website. That the spread widens during news releases is nothing more than normal, how otherwise can they hedge when price is jumping around like crazy ? It is the only HONEST forex broker that I know of...
