    Waiting period on new registrants

In addotion to that, if the bulk of the postersmessages are negative and are intended to discredit someone or ruin a forum that person should be suspended. And to prevent him from signing as another poster, the system should monitor the IP and e-mail addresses of new posters and compare them to...

    Waiting period on new registrants

Alot of good forums are being ruined by these rogue posters. They come in, try to discredit someone, and then a typing shouting match ensues taking the forum off topic, and eventually having it ignored. At some point the senior member and even the junior one's will get fed up and not post as...

for Don Bright, question about short detection

Out of curiousity Don, do you teach your traders to anticipate when the shorty is going to get lifted and uptick the stock, or do you teach them to stop with the size, and wait for the uptick to take them out. The reason I ask, is recently it's been harder to stop on shorties cause people...

    Waiting period on new registrants

At a minimum the moderator should review the initial posts of the new posters to see what their real intent is. Or at least allow senior members to forward names of people they suspect are only posting to discredit or ruin a forum.

nasdaq vs nyse(important...too me at least)

It seems that with todays markets it's a bit easierto trade the NYSE. The reason I have found is due to the spreads. NYSE stocks tend to have smaller spreads then the NASDAQ. In todays markets the moves are so small on avg, that it's easier to squeeze out a gain on NYSE. But I know traders...

Let's Seperate the Men from the Boys (or Women from the Girls)

It can't work for rapid day traders, cause we're not going to have time to log our trades into a simulator. But if you were talking about some swing trading, something that can be done at night, I'm game, that would be fun.

    Hold Brothers

All these points are discussed individually since they all depend on your experience, and the type of trading you plan to do.

I apologize too, I just got used to you bashing me.

    Hold Brothers

Thank you. I appreciate that very much. Maybe one day we could be friends. Now let's get back to business of making this board very insightful.

daytraders, how do you determine your stops?

Research determines the stop loss. Do a thorough analysis on how the stock moves. Never use stop limits, cause if they blow right through your limit price, you won't get filled, and will have to cover at a lower or higher price, depending ifyour long or short.

    ETG group?

What did Mr. Drummond do? He had tons of money, but never seemed to go to work.

    FYI - ad

I got the same one when I registered, I think that PM is automatic. The PM'er might pay for that right. Basically you can't solicit on the open boards.

    Why Go Pro?

They may, but you would be paying for the lack of trading. Prop firms make money on volume. Low volume = higher commissions. For 10-20 trades a week, your probably better off at a retail shop. They may be more competitive for this type of trading. Most prop guys are doing well over 100, if...

NYSE sues NY-NY Casino Las Vegas

You gotta love America, sue for everything, if there's money in it for you. What a joke this lawsuit is. Maybe we should get together and file a class action against the exchange for the sh*t they get away with.

    Why Go Pro?

You put it perfectly. Leverage is the key, plus most firms have a risk manager that watches your P&L, and will shut you down if you're losing a ton of money.

    ETG group?

Very nice, a good objective statement. The board needs more poster like you. I have to agree with what you said.

    Hold Brothers

I have no reason to advertise or talk up Hold. We are independent of Hold. We use their office space and clearing services. If for some reason we were unhappy there, we can pick up and leave at anytime. I'm just giving you my observation of the current enviroment there, that's what was asked...

    Hold Brothers

OK, I'm wrong, it's just that I've heard it used interchangeably, but the legal definitions are different, you're right.

    Hold Brothers

But the decimals have allowed us to control our risk alot better, and really that's where my main focus is. Can you imagine 1/8th spread in this choppy market? Instead of losind 1 - 3 cents on a trade, you'd be losing 12.5 cents. That could do some damage when the market has these several...

DSL: AOL, MSN, Earthlink, AT&T ...

If you're really only watching one stock then a 56k connection should be fine. You just have to worry about being dropped by the service provider. Cable is the bomb w/o dishing out money for a souped up line.
