Not sure how its done in the USA but around here you have to pay capital gains tax again on amounts you take out of the LLC into your personal account (or income tax if you are a payed director). So unless they let the cash accumulate in the LLC and dont want to spend it, they will pay more...

Are you looking at the MT4 volume? That is the so-called "tick-volume", it just counts every price-change, but not actually traded volume.

I suppose IB is not too keen on eating surcharges from exchanges, for example on ES it was 30:1 message to fill ratio over a session, if they didnt change it. It varies by contract. Not sure if they count this by customer-account or firm-wide.

As far as i know, there is only Gain and Oanda left, so nothing compareable really. I would probably go for futures in this case too. Oanda does have a commission-based model now too, but i have no personal experience and its more than double the cost than IB ($50/million).

There is nothing wrong with FX spot on Interactive Brokers for example. Doesn't help the OP, since he is a U.S. resident, but still such blanket statments are nonsense.

Futures are derivatives and as such a zero-sum game, for each contract there are 2 counterparties, one of which will lose and the other will win on each contract traded. Spot trading like FX, equities or everything else like i.e. cars is not zero-sum. Theoretically everyone could win - OTOH...

If you only want to hedge your USD balance at your broker, its actually quite simple. By sending 10K AUD to your brokers USD account you are short 10K AUD and long ~7600 USD (aprox. with current exchange rate). So as a hedge you could just buy 10K AUD/USD in spot fx and adjust from time to time...

The pitfall is that its most likely not working, since they can kick you out at any time and/or charge the swaps afterwards if they determine you are abusing this. Read the T&C. They are certainly not going to pay for your free lunch..

True. FXCM just got busted recently for similar bs - the difference is FXCM got banned completely, Citadel is getting away with a relatively small fine.

EuroFX is the EUR/USD futures contract on on the CME. Intraday a futures broker can set margins to what ever they want. Overnight they have to charge the exchange-minimum. Not sure why you think they focus on fx clients or that they do off-exchange trades.

The ones with $500 intraday margin for EuroFX. Like AMP or GlobalFutures.

Then you should quadruple 6E futures margin to $12,5K per contract and dont offer any intraday margin either. Then you are at 10:1 or thereabouts. But apprarently its ok if they ruin themselfs with futures. Some futures brokers are offering daytrade margin of 250x and more, somehow noone...

Obviously, if someone bought someone else sold. The tape usually shows the price and qty, and maybe if the trade occured on the bid or the ask.

Interactive Brokers or Lmax are the best options for retail in my opinion. For lmax there are introducing brokers if you dont want to deposit 10k.
