Direct Access Brokers that will not sell your Order Flow to HFT

I don't agree with it. And I haven't seen any evidence to support it beyond stories about how it makes it harder for certain kinds of speculators to make a living.

Greek makes nothing, so how can they pay off debts?

If everybody goes broke together, nobody really goes broke.

HFT - If You Commit The Following Your Company Is Finished

Prop/screen traders are no more "real" liquidity than HFT.

Whats keeping the dow above 10,000 (apart from the plunge protection team)??

At a guess, an abundance of folks betting that it will, for starters.

I've lost track of GS inner workings - is this essentially what they've outsourced to Pico now?

Dollar losing it's reserve status: An ET Roundtable

That's backwards. Access to the most base of commodities is what drives the ability to spread your currency in the first place. It starts and ends with energy. The rest is a convenient, generally useful, but derived fiction.

Dollar losing it's reserve status: An ET Roundtable

The pound-sterling was the reserve currency (in the context of its times) when coal was king. The dollar became the reserve currency when oil overtook coal in importance. Money doesn't matter.

If the Gov't cuts costs, who gets the money?

    What other careers are there?

In fairness, it wasn't a very good question. Not the least of which is that trading != finance, so it's pretty unclear what you're even looking for. If you had provided details on interests, aptitudes, and education/training, you would be more likely to receive useful replies.

    US doomed ?

The US is in pretty good shape, IMO, and will weather the extended malaise better than most.

Getco cuts staff with trading volumes thin [Financial Times]

As a retail trader, "at a given point in time" you are buying/selling very low quantities. It's quite a different game when you need to move sufficient quantity that you'd be wiping out half the book if you tried to do it in one fell swoop. The simplistic retail notion of price doesn't hold...

Getco cuts staff with trading volumes thin [Financial Times]

That makes sense. Exchanges are for retail - the real money is elsewhere.

ThinkOrSwim's Probability OTM, ITM, of Touching Calculator

It makes a bunch of assumptions about how prices will move in the future based on how they moved in the past. Then it uses those assumptions to guess. It's wrong, a lot. It's also "right" (in the Price is Right sense) a lot. Use at your own risk.

NEW story about Penson/Apex. Worth a read for those that clear thru Penson.

It's a fine line between an in-house trading signal and internalizing orders. A mighty mighty fine line.

NEW story about Penson/Apex. Worth a read for those that clear thru Penson.

That just does not sound right. Where on earth are the regulators? That's a trainwreck waiting to happen.

What are the most professional automated trading platforms ?

Do you want a good system, or do you want a system you can build from "drop down list of chart studies"? Because you can't have both. If you don't want to have to program, you have no choice to but to re-use what others have already regurgitated.
