    International Futures Trading Platform

Couldn't you use 2 brokers, a local for TOCOM and IB for CME?

    International Futures Trading Platform

Just guessing, but if your name, maninjapan, means you are in Japan, can't you use a local broker? If you are here, but have a language problem, check out Dot Commodity. I just saw that at least part of their site is in English. Don't know if their platform is though...

On IBs TWS: Receive Delayed Market Data

The delayed data shows and updates on the trading page in 900.3, but when you open a chart no data is shown, and 'No market data permissions for (symbol)' appears in the menu bar. Data does show in the chart's Quote Panel. How do you get the chart to populate for GBL Z09 for example. Thank you.

    Mini Nikkei Futures

I use eSignal among others. IB does have interval settings for its charts, but the quality and functionality are still having growing pains. You could use NinjaTrader for free with IB's data. It will miss a tick here and there.

IB TWS: A tragedy in the making?

I get the feeling there are quite a few IB customers who feel the same. I wonder how difficult it would be for IB to leave or provide even just one old version, be it standalone or browser, for those of us who would really be happier and satisfied using such. Guess it would take a bunch of...

    Mini Nikkei Futures

It's a rare day that the Nikkei doesn't open with a gap. And as with all markets there are days where it moves in a narrow range following the gap. But these also are rare. Pretty much in line with many other markets the Nikkei's daily range has been around 1% for the last few months with a...

IB TWS: A tragedy in the making?

    >kiwi Guess your sources are correct, but I've always heard that the versions have a life of 1 year. I'm (happily ) using 888.3 dated Oct. '08. Expecting it to be phased out shortly I was planning to install 890.6 which I have stored away. Maybe they changed the 1 year lifespan policy. Sure...

    Mini Nikkei Futures

To continue, there is no liquidity problem with the Mini trading just under 500,000 contracts lately. The spread is always 1 tick. Most announcements of any importance are made before the market opens at 8:30 and 8:50. Those not living in Japan have been limited to IB as a broker to the best...

    Mini Nikkei Futures

While other futures are my bread and butter, I have traded it since it was listed. Found LMT orders were more easily executed than with the large Nikkei which I had been trading. I haven't checked lately but I guess individuals still account for the majority of the trading in the Mini...

    Real Time Data

I am in Japan so I'm not aware of any sources outside Japan other than eSignal, IB and Equis which provide Topix data.

    Creating Stock Charts

You can bet your boots that there is value in doing charts by hand, especially if charts are new to you or if you have yet to discover their usefulness. 40 years ago when there weren't even printed daily charts where I was I would sit in my broker's office for 2 hours or so after the market...

    Japanese stocks list/info in English

I'm guessing that you do not live in Japan. If that's the case, you would not be able to open an account with Matsui or any other Japanese broker. An address in Japan is required.

    Japanese stocks list/info in English

There are always orders placed to be executed at the 11:00 AM close. So you will see a volume spike on the final morning trade. And there may very well be a gap from the next to last trade. Orders to be executed at the open of the afternoon session (12:30) are accepted from 12:10. You will also...

    IB Chronic Data Feed Issue

I agree with OldTrader(as always!) that it's a BookTrader problem, being that I have the same problem as you guys but I'm on the Hong Kong server using GLTrade data feed from Tokyo which would be different from your data feed. In fact I've had this problem for years!! I'm using 888. learner

    Great Candlestick Reference

Hi, I've lived here in Japan for 42 years, and have been a member of the Nippon Technical Analysts Association since 1978. In all of our meetings candlestick analysis has never been the topic. If you go to a bookstore that specializes in market books, out of 500 you might find 1 that...

    Great Candlestick Reference

This is not to knock candlestick charts by any means. If candlesticks work for you, fine. It's just that I find it interesting how popular candlestick charts are in the U.S. and elsewhere when very few Japanese use them nowdays. Even though charts in Japan are still printed using candlesticks...
