    Prop firm business model

The main source of income is desk fees & commisions. As I understand it, it is similar to a casino. Spread over a large group of traders the P&L should even out and be posistive (if you hire good traders with proven track record). The commisions and desk fees make for a steady income stream...

    California foreclosures hit 4-year high

You got me. what i was saying is that the numbers of foreclosures are going to have to increase in percentage terms to really effect the market. hundreds are of little consequence when we're talking about millions of homeowners.

Campaign for term limits - get rid of 50yr incumbants

I'm with you...something has to be done and I think this would make a huge difference. I really don't think it would be possible that term limits could cause any negative consequences. (most of) The special interest money goes to the campaign funds so if there no re-election campaigns...

Campaign for term limits - get rid of 50yr incumbants

I received this in email form. The site is very simple and will ask you to donate but you don't have to give anything to participate FS We have been chosen to participate in Operation Paul Revere, sponsored by Citizens for Term Limits and Tenure Corrupts. Paul Revere? That’s...

    California foreclosures hit 4-year high

You never see these stories mention the % of homeowners in default. If foreclosures go from 1 last year to 2 this year that would be a 50% increase in foreclosures, but does it tell you anything? NO I'm not saying 26k defaults is not news but I wonder what percentage of homeowners that...

    Dow 36k, Dow 100k...

I think I read somewhere the 36,000 DOW theory is based on hyperinflation, not immense prosperity. Now that is a definitely possibility. I read this on an ex-floor trader, now analyst, personal website so i don't remember if that was his opinion or the basis of the 36k theory.

America will be off oil sooner than you think

Actually the tesla uses many batteries similar to laptop batteries, something like 6000 I think. That reduces the chance of failure or the need to replace the entire battery. I don't think oil is going anywhere...until it's gone. It will take a very long time for the world to adapt to other...

Are private charities any better then goverment programs?

One big difference is that people running charities are truly interested in solving some problem or providing aid in a certain area. Whereas politicians are only concerned about get re-elected and any program is only measured on how many votes supporting it will get, not whether or not it...

    Go futures go!

"were" being a key phrase in that post. OUCH!

    Go futures go!

I believe trader identifiers are still in the clearing data. Now that would be interesting to see who was buying and selling in that spike. I don't know how you get access to that data but I know the big players have it.

    Go futures go!

Here's the data. Doesn't exactly look like a fat finger either.

    Go futures go!

There were no 1000+ lots. And yes CQG shows trades over 100 between 80 - 98.

    Go futures go!

That's bad data. The market traded at every price all the up.

    Hydroponics

Fish farms are an abomination. That farmed salmon you're eating would be grey if it wasn't fed artificial coloring along with the corn. Not too appetizing.

Is the market rally predicting a democratic win?

This occured to me today...might just be another random thought. During the massive bull of the '90's there was a democratic president and a republican congress which resulted in a lot of gridlock and washington doing relatively nothing...which is GOOD. In this case the roles are reversed...

    Bond rally nearing an end?

May thru June when the 30yr was trading near a high of 5.3% the yield curve was flat to slightly normal. It was becoming flatter as more people began betting on a pause in increases. If the bonds start heading for new lows that would be a normalization of the yield curve towards flat from...

    Bond rally nearing an end?

This whole rally started after the jun 28th statement when everyone started speculating on a pause with the next move being a decrease. As it becomes more apparent that the next move may be an increase I see no reason why the curve doesn't flip to being normal or at least goes back to flat.

    Zen, Yoga, Meditation and Trading

I've been thinking of trying acupuncture but if you don't have a specific problem what do you ask them to do for you?

    Zen, Yoga, Meditation and Trading

I know a trader that has that ability but I'm pretty sure he never meditates. He would have outbursts of rage that would just end just as quickly as they began. I guess some people are lucky enough to have a natural ability for that kind of emotional control while others must learn.
