I think this is just an ordinaire cost increase..... The calculation is very arbitrairy and currently they use 30%, but they can make it 40% tomorrow, This makes a big change. They do not take into account anyuthing like volatitlity etc. Also, the amount might seem a small number (e.g. 20)...

I think actually you additional user cannot make fund transaction, only trade. That is probably why you get a code card and not an electronic device.

Actually, if you put the Condor to the quote section of option trader in TWS, you can actually open and close the Condor from there with one click without having to create it again.

IB has a projected look ahead margin calculation. Did this number not show teh increase ahead of time? Further, IB has a report that shows 'sensitivity' which can also show you your risk level in this repect. (I forgot trh name of teh report.)
