    RefcoFX vs. Oanda

FX brokers ain't brokers. They're dealers. In a fair market, you get a selection of dealers so if ones crooked you can always patronize another. Natural selection will weed out plenty of bad seeds. (not saying there aren't any left though) For accounts less than $2-5k, i guess they have no...

    Strategy Trading, Probabilities & Blackjack/Poker

random entries are not 50/50 due to spread/comms/slippage. 10 ticks tp/sl with 1 tick spread its about 40/60. this still holds in a trend, trading in trend's direction. how so? because its super easy to test this on a backtester. just find periods where it trends and test entries in the same...

    losing streaks

What did you mean by losing streak? I'm guessing you didn't lose 150 trades in a row? Or you just ended day in the red?

Mechanical System for Trading the E-minis

if profitable systems can be found on the net, then why do 80-90% of traders lose? *ps: don't give me the same old psychology excuse. the rules can easily be automated.

    RefcoFX vs. Oanda

    1) People with little capital and so can't meet the minimum account requirement by futures brokers or the margin requirement. 2) People who want to trade "mini-lots" to try out. 3) People who are clueless about FX and think bucketshops = FX. Seen plenty of them around. Nobody will go...

    Quick backtesting question...

got my data from ANfutures. bid only i think. my backtesting software is amibroker and i don't think they can display bid-ask together. (ok, i could backtest twice...once for longs and once for shorts) but i assume adding 2 ticks for slippage/spread/comms should be okay in most cases...

    Quick backtesting question...

Normally data comes in either bid or ask chart format. Most commonly sold in bid chart format. (only shows ticks for the bid) Now how would you backtest with Spread and Slippage? Do you guys actually calculate what the ask will be for the time? Or just treat the data as average price and add...

    Strategy Trading, Probabilities & Blackjack/Poker

you do know that efficient market theorists derive their findings from empiricial data? you also know that if a mathematician write something like "i don't have evidence but i believe" he is going to get an arse whooping of a lifetime by his collegues? and the biggest money makers (insitution...

    Strategy Trading, Probabilities & Blackjack/Poker

In BJ counting, it takes 10,000 hands to really show if the player has an edge. The rest of the time, equity changes are due to variance. In fact, a good counter with 1-2% edge can be down a lot on his first 50-100 hands and make big bucks later. Strange thing is like when it comes to...

He is probably one of them "honest system seller". Everyone else I know are either against holy grail peddling or tried once and is now against holy grail peddling. :D

    Trading Hammers (revisited)

No, sorry. Those doesn't show that they have an edge. Moneytec is filled with people who do all of the above and claim they make 1000+ ticks a month. Highly doubt they have any edge though. It takes about 10,000 trades to show if an edge exists. These guys are claiming edge with about 20...

Can scaling/averaging down be a viable trading system?

finding the trend isn't the problem and we all know it. using MAs even newcomers have a 100% chance of being in the trend with the right positions when the trend comes. the only problem is how much we lost beforehand.
