I write my systems in c and c++ code and test them out and change them around. I doubt commercial software can test all the ideas that come to my mind. I do not believe I could stick to a system during a losing streak unless I personally built the system. I built some good trading systems...

I write computer programs to test trading methods. Lots of times the same trading method is profitable or unprofitable depending on the parameters. In your case the parameters are the length of the moving averages. Some combinations work better than others. To me, that is completely normal.

Every broker I used behaved differently. I switched to a discount broker and I am very pleased with their service. Not all brokers are good. Some brokers are expensive or have computer problems. I don't need a broker to lose money. I am quite capable of losing money all by myself.

When I get the flu I quit trading. I might stop trading, even exit short term positions if something happens that makes me feel confused (like I can't think clearly).

Trendlines work sometimes. I like the long trend lines that are years in duration. When price crosses long trend lines there might be something important happening.

I once tested wide stops against close stops and found no great difference in performance. The close stops had more trades but losses were smaller. Markets do not misbehave. People misbehave. Markets are just places where buyers and sellers meet.

I expect other countries / businesses all around the world to demand payment in non-dollars, probably euro. The USA has too much debt and I think we are heading toward a crisis. Might not get to the crisis point for many years though. I'm not convinced the euro is going to be around 20 years...

Both. Neither. If price is going up I'm in. I use stops so wide it doesn't make much difference where I get in. What is more important is that price does not fall to my stop loss level. I basically just place a lot of small bets and hold on to the winners.

I can lose either short or long. I like long better because the profit can be greater than 100 % with a long position. Short positions make 100 % profit maximum if security price goes to zero. I assume no use of leverage.

What are you going to buy or sell short?

Someone told me that we can sell stocks short without an uptick now. Is that true? I find nothing on the Securities and Exchange Commission website or NYSE website.
