All money is created out of debt? -or not?

It is 'created' every time you or someone like you borrows money from a bank Because the bank can then make a new loan to someone else look up: 'fractional reserve'

All money is created out of debt? -or not?

Growth in the money supply is dependent on debt. When you sign your name on the dotted line for that car loan, or home mortgage - the bank can go out and loan those same dollars again. *Poof...... growth in the money supply

What did you build the machine to accomplish? Its a fair amount of computing power - but 1400 bucks is alot of money - unless you are gaming Did you build it as a gaming machine? I've built trading machines for 300-400 bucks - plenty of capacity

    Programming for idiots

Agreed - although I think you can overcome the speed problem with the 64 bit NT on Win 7 I built a 4 CPU box, loaded it up with memory and overclocked the processors Runs pretty quick - 2x, maybe 3x better than NT 6.5 on a 32 bit OS

    Programming for idiots

You can backtest all you want - no limits that I know of - short of the computing capacity of your machine. Backtest and optimization both give skewed results in my experience

    learning to backtest

Try ninjatraders backtest and optimization engines They are free and easy to set up and use They won't help you prove out a real trading strategy, but they can show you the limitations of backtest engines :)
