IT'S ALL ABOUT THE OIL (isn't it?)

you still haven't responded madison. the idea that we want to steal oil from Iraq is totally insane.

AMAT Upgrade: et al NVLS etc....

I don't think it was really a bubble until 1996. I don't think we will see 1994 levels in the major indexes unless something truly horrible happens like another major terrorist attack.

Liquidity! What is an acceptable Volume on a stock?

if you really want to "trade" a stock and not invest in it, then obviously you want some volume going on and when you sell you don't want to be taking out the bid as a small timer.

    NYSE bigcap trading

"If I continue to trading stocks I am thinking I will have to widen my timeframe out again and go back to trading off charts and rely less on tape reading." sounds like a good idea to me. I don't see how you can read the consolidated tape over the internet, not see any order flow, pay...

POLL: The repercussions of a US attack on Iraq

I have spent many years living among the people of the United States in their natural habitat. I can tell you that although they don't have the concept of "jihad", they do have the concept of "just war", and any war against a dictator is a just war according to the majority of americans.

    Short-term bottom revisited?

yesterday was an inside day with a positive close, stochastic is bottomed and turning upwards, the first of the october gaps is filled, etc. It all looks good to me, If it opens down its a buying opportunity.

More Winners or Larger Avg. Winner?

"Drawdown" in relation to trading is just a euphemism for losing your ass. If you get used to losing large amounts of your account equity you won't have any account equity in the long run. Usually all it takes is completely blowing your first trading stake to learn this, but some people are more...

    TA becomes self defeating??

If you focus all your attention on TA or fundamental analysis, or any trade entry system, in the long run you will be dissapointed. Trade selection is only 1/3rd of the picture, the other parts are position sizing and trade exit, which are both just as important as trade entry.

    Which OS?

I have windows XP, but..... there is such a thing as a stable system running Windows 98 Second Edition. They are very rare, but they do exist. If you are one of the lucky people to have such a system, then it all comes down to money. If you are broke, or just happy with what you have, then don't...

    Worm Attack

I work in quality assurance for internet applications and network security, and I can tell you that most systems out there are being built as quickly and cheaply as possible and are full of bugs and security holes. Its a problem with human nature, nobody cares about security until there is a...

    Shorting KO

today it is trading the lowest it has been since early 1996 unless my charts are wrong. I think it has already had a downside breakout and is oversold, so I am waiting for a bounce to go short. A bounce back to 44 or so on light volume would be great for me.

Where will this down leg bottom?

I think its getting very oversold out there. Good chance for a nice short covering rally this week. After that, it depends on what happens with Iraq.

Why are there people against disarming Iraq?

some people just get off by feeling subversive. Their balls tingle when they think they are the elite moral intellectuals who have a monopoly on the truth. These people also tend to have a lot of free time, so they get their message out even though they are an extreme minority of the population...

    Probabilities and trading

Use position sizing and stop loss orders to limit your risk per trade to 1% of your trading capital. If you have 10% of your capital in a trading position then your stop loss had better not be more than a 10% loss on that position ( 10% of 10% is 1% of your total capital ).

what happend to my account after PDT rules on stock options.

QDZ, he is just giving you good advice, give it up already. Daytrading options and paying the full spread plus retail commissions is not the way to go. Your broker will make more than you will, especially since your returns are likey to be negative.

    Prop Firms That Care?

I think its pretty obvious that a trading job at a major investment bank is a career, and going to a prop trading shop is not. Even if you could find a totally honest prop firm you are still there to generate commissions for them, not profits for you. Its a fundamental conflict of interest.
