what is scary is that the risk manager let him risk 30 million like that on one position in the first place. In theory a prop firm would never lose money on P/L if they have good risk control. It takes a whole lot of commissions to make back $30 million.

I think if you own 4.5% of a company or more its insider trading regardless if you are officially attached to the company in any way. All that means is he will still have to report his transactions.

what you are trying to tell me is that risking $1 to make $1.50 is smarter than risking a $1 to make $3 and that isn't rational. That is in fact a rationalization for overtrading because you can't find enough setups that are 3:1 which is why this thread was started in the first place.

i've done the math, i've done the trading, i can tell you that a high expected return vs. the risk is a good thing in the real world as well as mathematically.

you can love the product and hate the stock at the same time, I like Diet Vanilla coke. I also like mcdonalds and look at that dog stock.

I never short stocks that look like RMBS, even though it worked out this time, that was a high risk short.

what procedure do you go through to choose which stocks to use for this strategy ?
