    wow and this is called ELITE trader. An index future can't go below zero cause it would be arbed away in real life if it even became close to zero. Financial future = spot + intrest carry costs. for oil future there are storage costs involved, it's these that brought the value below zero.

    the explanation about sell to close is wrong. You open a buy to open first and later close that with a sell to close. With a covered call it's an sell to open first, if you want to close that position it's a buy to close.

    why oh why take such a stupid pin risk ??? the market might open 20% lower on monday and what then .... if you just sold the call nothing of that kind of risk. Things can be simple unless you start making them complicated !
