What was your reason for entering the trade in the direction you took? What you felt the "global" environment would produce economically, politically, etc.? I am pretty much going for the tape reading approach, which rules out any holds longer than a few minutes in general.

Could be a shared IRQ issue. You could always try moving the soundcard to a different slot.

    Which platform would that be?

    RealTick acting up?

I've got similar problems. I wrote my app to the RealTick APIs. Now that I want to switch, it'll be a bit of a pain. I am starting to look at TrackData (myTrack) as they offer a datafeed API (not to mention being a lot cheaper in the way of monthly fees).

In every winning case was the 1min MACD going in the same direction?

    Thank you myTrack!

I'm not sure how that is a special offer. The SDK is always $25/mo IIRC.

Very true. When I try and scalp, I often find myself jumping into trades that have little chance for success. That is one reason I have started trying to actual put my target and stop on the chart before entering the trade. An attempt to help me say "hey, that's an insane trade, don't do it"...

Wow. I actually held on to my target! :D The trade is attached. Short 821.00 at 11:39, stop at 822.50, target at 818.25. It was very tempting to scratch the trade early when it didn't die immediately. That "free" one point was very tempting the first time it was offered to me. Convinced...

I'm not sure what SI is, so I'll venture a guess and so no? I have no other trading threads anywhere on the Net. Edit: BTW, what connection do you see?

Absolutely no reason to be sorry. Repitition is essential in the learning process. :) I might actually be in a position now to start applying what you wrote in October. Guess I need to re-read it as well.

I realize the method of r/r I am playing with is a bit backwards. It is intentional in that I am playing with ideas, and it isn't how I have typically traded most of my "trading career". My rational for playing with this method is that I tend to have a "good" record at picking places the...

True. In this case if I had thought about where I really wanted the stop, it would have delayed my entry. Which would have been good in this case, and pretty much every other case I made this type of mistake. I realize this, but I screwed up. I seem to suffer from a trader's form of the...

Is a stop location a good location for the stop if you would consider entering an actual trade at that price? In that last trade I would have felt safe entering a short at my stop price, so among other reasons, maybe that was a sign that it was a poorly placed stop. Hmmm...

This is par for me today. I had a good idea were the price was going to go, so I put in my target order. Entered my short. Then decided I wanted a 2-to-1 reward/risk ratio, so placed my stop based on that. When, of course, I should have placed my stop in a place that would have actually made...
