why THE HELL is it so easy to do the wrong thing...

The big problem with this method, at least for me, is that your brain is adaptive. Once you start making money (or not), soon you will start to question whether when you "think you should short, so you decide to go long", if you aren't learning the proper times to indeed go short. So then you...

    Journal of ashes and Eminis

    I suppose it's time for another post. 3 RTs / 1 contract / +0.75 points 2 wins / 1 loss = 66% stop / target = 5 tix / 4 tix 1. Sell 09:46:51 @ 901.50 for -1.25 2. Buy 09:55:18 @ 903.25 for +1.00 3. Sell 10:20:00 @ 906.75 for +1.00 Not much to say today. First trade was a loser, but...

    IB's liability in Universal Accounts...

My understanding is that all cash is moved nightly into the SIPC covered equity account. So if you don't hold futures overnight, you should be covered.

Real time charting with IB TWS?

Can you give more specific details on what the new stats are compared to the old? Is it still snapshots vs. faster snapshots vs. all ticks? Etc. Thanks.

Real time charting with IB TWS?

I wasn't watching the IB feed then, but I would bet the reason it didn't lag is because they didn't send out every tick. Again, not saying it's necessarily bad.

Real time charting with IB TWS?

I have heard they improved (plan to improve?) the feed, though I have been charting their tick by tick ES data next to ESignal and RealTick and I do see missing ticks still from IB. Unless you lay the ticks out and compare, you probably won't notice. Then again, I might not know what I'm...

Real time charting with IB TWS?

I'm affraid I can't answer that, as I don't use it. Maybe someone else here can.

Real time charting with IB TWS?

You aren't missing anything. IB doesn't provide charts. Also, their data feed only provides snapshots and isn't guaranteed to be complete, though it is good enough for most things.

    Journal of ashes and Eminis

Bingo. That is what I was intending when I started this plan. The 3/3 keeps me from burning myself too badly, but still gets me used to entering live trades via my "system" and also gives me a chance to analyze how different stop/targets would have work out given my actual entries. The goal...

    RealTick Price Server Problems

I have had the reconnect message box appear during the day, but strangely enough I am still receiving data while it goes through the reconnect process. Not sure what is going on. This started once I installed 7.6.

    Anyone trading with linux?

Tuber will set you back in the neighborhood of $1000-$2000/month (plus or minus). I don't recall the exact amount as it was about a year ago that I inquired about it. The reason it is so expensive is that it gives you a direct connection to the data servers which bypasses the login servers...

    Anyone trading with linux?

For me, computers are my hobby. It doesn't take anything away from trading. I learned a while back the lessen you mention. I no longer work on programming, etc. during trading hours. But I see nothing wrong with writing custom software if it is what you enjoy doing. Some people work on...

    Anyone trading with linux?

I am in the process of considering a switch to Linux for trading (because I am a geek at heart, not because Windows doesn't work). I need to see if I can work with IB's data feed limitations. If only eSignal or RealTick would offer a Linux SDK for their data, I would switch in a heartbeat. I...

ATI RADEON 9700 PRO ... anyone???

Well, if money isn't an issue and you want excellent 3D and dual DVI, look at the nVidia workstation class video cards like the Quadro4 XGL. There are various models with differing performance and video output characteristics. Here is a review of the XGL...

ATI RADEON 9700 PRO ... anyone???

The dual DVI cable from Matrox is only for specific Matrox cards and won't work with ATI cards. The real issue is that the ATI cards only contain one TMDS transmitter on-board. You need a second one in order to run two DVI monitors. The add-on port I was referring two would require the add-on...
