Unleaded Gas Jumped 10 Cents Overnight

I've seen it between $3.55-$4 here in the Chicagoland area. Man, too bad one couldn't buy gas at the cheap place and sell it at the more expensive pump! :p

    Baby Boomers

So how long until an ambitious power-seeking politician says we have a "boomer problem" that requires a "solution"? AARP Camps?

Someone wake me up from my virtual world.

Think of it as a derivative of a derivative of a derivative on things ranging from business transactions to dating. But don't be fooled into thinking that this company's "service" is some new virtual economy. The whole thing is built on on shaky ground. Basically you got a 21st century...

    Hedging, what it means?

I don't know if that would be a true hedge when it comes to the Spot FX markets, possible in futures, but maybe not here. If you went long Eur/Usd and shorted Gbp/Usd, you would essentially have a long a Eur/Gbp position.

    Weeklies for futures

Would weekly expiration futures contract work for financial futures? For example, most spot currency institutional trades are two day affairs (well so I've read). Indeed, may financial transactions are of an extremely short-term nature. Wouldn't a weekly (or even a monthly) expired contract...

    CME CBOT Merger

From what I've seen on the news, contracts currently being pit traded at the Merc will be moved to the CBOT, whereas contracts being traded electronically will be passed onto the Globex system. Here is where I'm not clear on: 1) Will the pit-traded big S&P be finally moved to Globex, or...

    Spot Forex Spread/Hedge

You are correct, but what if one simply wanted to protect themselves against price movement? I agree, if one converted the price of the futures to their spot price format, it would be completely different price level to the actual spot price. I will be open and admit that I do not know the...

    Spot Forex Spread/Hedge

I would be also interested in seeing how a trade utilizing FX spot positions offset by a corresponding FX futures position would work out. Of course, the price on the futures would not really be the same as the spot. On IB, I think one would need about $2500 for the spot, and lets say its the...

    Spot Forex Spread/Hedge

I was going to say the same thing. You simply can't be adding onto a losing position. Or did I miss something in trading 101??

Curious about non-interest/interest accounts, I emailed Oanda (my broker) about such a thing. To my surprise, they said they plan on such of thing in the future (though no date given). I wonder how they would offset the interest?

    Spot Forex Spread/Hedge

I'd be curious to know the long-term results of this trade. Have say the losses in one position offset in anyway the others, all the while collecting interest?

    Spot Forex Spread/Hedge

UPDATE: Well, I've held this position now for over 12 hours (positions opened on 10/12/06 at 10:54AM CST). The results have been interesting, to say the least, but not exactly surprising. The Eur/Chf had been a range of 1.5914 to about 1.5927. The Eur/Jpy and Chf/Jpy have been in near...

Really quickly, I had goofed on the Eur/chf trade and had purchased over 12,000 units, I have now adjusted it to where it is $.50/pip. So include an additional $1 in the loss category.

Just to let you know, to get some conclusion on this, I decided to do one of these synthetic trades. I had another one, but it was by accident and for a different trading plan on something entirely different. So here's where it stands, I am now long 6000 units of eur/jpy + short 6000...

    Borrowing money from Japanese Banks

Oh, c'mon people, be realistic here. How can the average investor or retail trader really borrow X amount from a Japanese bank? Can they fly to Japan and simply take out a loan for a rate far less than here? Is that even possible? To do that whole Yen trade thing, is a bit more abstract. I...

Well I must say that Paris may be on to something here. I've held that trade I mentioned and the results have not been all that well. That one synthetic long did not offset my synthetic short in any way. One was either too slow to react or the reaction was not of equal proportion. Perhaps...
