I think we should look differently at TA..it is only a collection of tools that a skillful trader can combine to draw his own trading system..in the same manner an artist draws a painting....it doesn't make sense to criticize colors if the artist simply cannot paint...

I am wondering why such huge institutions would depart from the technical analysis to the statistics.....is this the one which really works? and if most hedge funds use stats it doesnt take long to come to the conclusion that the traditional technical analysis no longer works..and is nothing...

i am wondering why you would separate statistical analysis from the technical...even if they are different they are not from another worlds as is the case with tech-funds pair...take Bollinger bands - it uses standard deviations that you mention...

thank you all for your replies...I think it is unrealistic to expect someone to give full disclosure of the methods used by the hedge funds if he has experience working with them....I am interested in general description...and maybe a couple of simplistic real-life examples....not anything...

a system mean it has to draw upon the technical or fundamental analysis...if it doesn't use techs it uses funds exclusively...correct?

thank you....i think MAR is different from the Profit Target because it is not price-based... it is based on investor preference....as regards the reward/risk ratio is doesnt need to be 2 as long as the system accuracy is high....thanks!
