    Dual Xeon Full Usage

Rather than getting an opteron, get a conroe - theyre outperforming the top AMDs in all benchmarks. Also, try to go with dual core rather than 2 individual processors, it's slightly faster with newer mobos/chipsets.

    Dual Xeon Full Usage

I mean, that's good advise, but I don't think it'll help. I have spybot, I don't have any spyware, would really matter as it should show up in the proc list anyways. Even if it didn't, and it was some sort of processor hungry spyware, I would see it eating up cycles when redi was off and comp...

I doubt that would help. Changing scope back and forth between a quote app and redi will slow the system down quite a bit.

Can't do it, Redi is the only realistic option for what I'm doing as I clear through GS

    Dual Xeon Full Usage

Cool. The graphics cards are obviously overkill, although they should be still rockin a couple years from now. Is the processor 64-bit capable? If not, keep in mind that a 32-bit system can only utilize 2 gb of ram - you'd need another processor or to switch to 64-bit (which isn't really a good...

I have several ETFs on my screen, along with level 2 and T&S - the amount of data being processed can be extraordinary at times. Excel on it's own processor only uses up about 40-50%, but redi uses up around 80% of it's processor during normal markets. My system is actually a little more...

Yes I've been considering getting an EE system. Do you know if any of the next gen AMD/Intel clock much higher than the EE? Also, what are the specs of your build, just curious

    Dual Xeon Full Usage

Yes this is useful I guess, although most trading apps aren't multithreaded and are therefore limited to a single processor anyways - windows delegates the cycles automatically.

    Dual Xeon Full Usage

Yes, more or less. At this point I think the only solution is to seek higher clocked cores. I'm reluctant to overclock significantly as stability is essential here.

Both of my processors clock at 2.5 or so. Anyone have a solution to this situation?

    Dual Xeon Full Usage

Eh, not sure where you're getting your numbers but clock speeds are around the same. I know Intel Conroe core shows some significant performance boosts over current gen stuff, but its not a fair comparison as AMD is rolling out their next gen stuff in a couple months as well. Also, dual...

I dont think that'll even help. It seems to be raw processing power/CPU cycles that we're lacking, therefore we need processor with a higher clock speed.

    Dual Xeon Full Usage

Currently considering getting a new trading box. As it is, I'm running 2 x 2.8 ghz Xeon and during the day CPU usage hovers around 85-90% when the markets are generally calm, spiking to just under 100% and becoming unusable when it gets active. Not sure what to do here, more RAM wont help as...
