    Systematic Options Writing

When considering SPY options in particular, I have found that lots of 10 seem to get better fills than individual contract orders. -- http://themarkettruth.blogspot.com/

    Any morning only traders here?

I would argue that the most NYSE edge will be found during specialist openings and closing imbalances, not much to do during the day unless you're trading M&A -- http://themarkettruth.blogspot.com/

    Real Estate justifiably beats inflation?

Although I don't believe in the housing bubble, housing prices have outpaced real inflation given by any sensible indicator by several multiples for a long time -- http://themarkettruth.blogspot.com/

How the US Treasury Auctions work

He's refering to a futures hedge put on by the dealers immediately after the cash auction. By scaled bids, Pabst is implying that a dealer will put in bids at various prices for varying amounts. If the price dropped significantly and the dealer picked up more paper than he anticipated, they will...

short the bond and 10 yr

A good explanation may be simply that the majority of options traded on the bonds are institutional hedges rather than speculative positions, by nature contradicting the core futures position taken

short the bond and 10 yr

I know some major players that have been shorting the heck out of the long end for months now, those yields will go up it's just a matter of time

    Butterfly Meltdown Signal

Reissuing long bond will put downwards pressure on especially the 10 and 30, bringing yields up and, as long as the yield increases is twice as great on the 10 than on the 5 (which won't necessarily be the case), perhaps pushing the 2/5/10 fly higher.

    Newbie OJ question

Quite true, pit traded and fairly light volume. It might be OK as a long term speculation vehicle, but not easy to trade actively.

' are you talking about a SNG? i play mostly at paradise, they dont have rebuys at the NL SNGs

    Poker and the Beginning Trader

indeed, NL is where people will give up the most edge and misvalue their hands by 10x BB rather than 1 or 2 big bets in limit

been averaging $6 an hour at 2/4 for the past 6 weeks now and have placed in 19/24 $20 tournaments played :D the problem with me is when i sit down at a high stakes limit or NL cash game, i can't seem to play my game; not to mention the fact that those games play differently than what i'm used...

    Poker and the Beginning Trader

I'll throw in my 2c here. SNGs are a totally different world, in an SNG your main goal is to survive and to place (thereby making money). In a NL game it doesn't matter how much time you spend at the table, your money will come from taking bad bets/raises from other players and letting the odds...

Eurodollar Futures (GE)--anyone else trading these?

a lot of people are moving into the intra-day spread trading arena. trading the calendars (and some flys) back and forth for a few ticks, not as profitable (or as risky) as trend-following though.

    Poker and the Beginning Trader

Again, it all depends. But unless I'm feeling desperate and short-stacked, I will simply call or make a small raise preflop. Let the flop come and try to get a read on whoever is in, chances are you still have the top hand. If you flop trips or perhaps better, for god's sake PLAY IT SLOW. The...

    Poker and the Beginning Trader

depends a lot on bank roll in relation to that of others and the blinds in relation to my bank roll, as well as position and as you mentioned the styles of the other players. If I'm in good position I'll take gambles playing J7u and such. Otherwise I'll stick to suited connectors or stuff like...
