    'picking off' retail traders

This reminds me of my early days trading according to 'Safety In The Market' principals which had to be one of the biggest market educators in Australia in the 2000's. They pretty much taught a swing trading system where you put your stops 1c away from swings, profit targets at set swing...

    Starting out NOW

Sounds like you did some back-testing.. got a good enough result to test forward live and now you have to see how it works out. Sounds like a similar swingish strategy I started out on years ago (2009). I used to even hand draw swing charts for days on end (because of poor advice from a poor...

Using ZeroMQ from within Ninjatrader (assistance bitte)

Good to hear Jack! Would be interested to hear about any throughput tests you do with market data. The only disappointment with zmq is the lack of interprocess messaging on windows - but throughput has been good enough for me using TCP sockets.

Using ZeroMQ from within Ninjatrader (assistance bitte)

There is a Net 3 zmq binding though it's not updated anymore: https://www.nuget.org/packages/clrzmq/3.0.0-rc1 Also don't forget NetMq - the native c# implementation of zmq, could be easier fault finding. Definitely won't be able to use clrzmq4 in NT7. NT8 is stable nowadays, and way better...

Using ZeroMQ from within Ninjatrader (assistance bitte)

    a) Are the two sub directories your: amd64 and i386 - both containing libzmq.dll and libsodium.dll? b) Are you using NT7 or NT8? clrzmq4 uses .Net 4 and NT7 is .Net 3 framework. So you want to be using NT8. I have done this before but for whatever reason went with the Microsoft Message Queue...

    w.d.gann astrology

Gann is a very interesting and mysterious character indeed. I studied his courses thoroughly after being lured in by one of Australia's bigger 'market educators' Safety In the Market in 2004, and tried to trade like a Gann master for about 4 years, pretty much full-time, with zero consistent...

    Not enjoyable any more

It certainly gets to that point doesn't it that trading becomes a chore just like any other computer job. For years aspiring day traders are entertained by the chase of the holy grail, and the challenge of getting profitable .. some stay in that cycle I think.. others go broke.. the survivors...

    Does Anyone Ignore News Completely?

Do an experiment for a week. Depending on what instrument you are trading - Sign up for a talking-forex trial or similar or get the ITC Weekly Calendar which lists the numbers and times that matter in relation to govvy supply and economic numbers. See if you can manage risk according to your...

If You Trade One Instrument Only, How Do You Deal With This?

I don't think this is a problem. It is possible to be right only 50% of the time, and have a positive expectancy. I am very happy when my stats show I am right 50% or more of the time, as on average I always scalp 3 to 4 ticks profit, and lose 2 to 3 ticks. Trading only one instrument allows...

Diving head first into the shallow end

I have finished just over 6 months of pre-study then quit my engineering job and decided I am going to have a crack at it. I have learnt the Gann techniques.. back traded systems with a few markets, enough to make a very small profit.. Studied nothing more complicated than the squares mentioned...
