Looking for an alternative to NinjaTrader

I understand you need a platform that allows users implement their own datafeed interface. Among very few choices here is NeoTicker. It offers licensed users a well-documented API so that users can implement their own datafeed. (In your case it will be IQFeed interface with custom data...

Three prople dead in bank that was set ablaze by Greek rioters

If this is the reason behind the bailout, than yes, it was necessary... because China and Japan hold US Treasuries in much larger amounts than subprime CDOs.

Rumor: Spain will ask for 280 billion euros of aid money

Wouldn't you rather marry one of them.. as long as you are a Roman catholic or are ready to convert?

    EUR/USD

CClement, if 1.20 is year-end target than I totally buy your argument. I originally assumed you expected this move in the next 2-3 weeks.

    I don't Get it?!

It would have been more helpful if you have posted a link to a thread that discusses what happened in greater detail. No offence intended.

    I don't Get it?!

It is pretty close to (2)... except short CDO means buying insurance. IKB was long CDO (as they sold insurance). So, when mortgage borrowers start defaulting (as nutmeg suggested), IKB (who sold protection) is loosing money.

    I don't Get it?!

Synthetic CDO is a contract for difference that references a security that doesn't exist. So, shorting synthetic CDO would work in the following spirit. First, the contract defines a pool or a few pools of subprime mortgages. Then the payout is linked to this pool appreciating or...

UK draft bill put anyone giving tax advice at risk of £5,000 fine

It's a draft bill. Let's hope after tomorrow's general election it will be 'torn up' as The Chartered Institute of Taxation report sugested. Not the first. Watch documentary Taking Liberties that was shown on Channel 4. Among other things it shows how Terrorism Act (2006) that allows police...

Beating risk free rate by 2%?

Asuming this question is about USD and not, say, Euro, the low-risk way would be to buy inflation-linked governement bonds (TIPS) or a fund that invests in them. With FED printing money like crazy the inflation is sure to pick up soon. From September 10, 2008 to March 10 of this year...

    Mozy vs Carbonite

I second this. My Verbatim-branded hard drive died yesterday after only 5 months in use. Given the power indicator doesn't light up I suspect it's power supply issue. Luckily I used it to back up my TV recorder box and not any important data. I also know people who unplugged an external hard...

Politicians share personality traits with serial killers: Study Kouri, who's a vice president of the National Assn. of Chiefs of Police, has assembled traits such as superficial charm, an exaggerated sense of self-worth, glibness, lying, lack of remorse and manipulation of others. These...

UK draft bill put anyone giving tax advice at risk of £5,000 fine

That's what the taxmen who put the bill forward claim the bill should do... but that's not what the bill says. The actuall draft bill carefully omits the element of "fraud" and thus covers any tax advice given 'otherwise than in the course of business'. So, accontants and bankers are excluded...

POLL: Trade frequency vs. stop size

If the question is about trading on defferent time frames, such as a few trades per day that run a small trend as opposed to a few trades per year that run longer trends, then you need to find the time frame that works best for you. Longer timeframes are less predicatable from the technical...

Surgeon outsourcing to India soon? Thanks to remote surgery.

It'll take quite a long while. A return ticket to India is cheaper than post-operation care in most cases.

EU : Barnier considers EU rating agency

Another proof that governments lag behind the industry. The time for setting up a new rating agency couldn't have been chosen better - right after the recent crisis has demostrated that the idea of relying on rating agencies is flawed.
