Reuters: Germany to ban shortselling, tonight

Accurate information doesn't sell newspapers. Over-hyping non-events does.

nvidia Video Card and 2 External Monitors

It is generally true. However, DVI-I port combines DVI-D and VGA ports in one. These ports can be assumed to be connected to the same monitor but this assumption isn't necessary. So, if the graphics card handles it, these behave as 2 separate ports.

nvidia Video Card and 2 External Monitors

I understand the question is regarding using two external monitors. So, the laptop should have a VGA and a DVI port. There are reports that some laptops with a single DVI-I port allow connecting a VGA and a DVI monitos via a splitter and run them as 2 separate monitors.

Reuters: Germany to ban shortselling, tonight

it only concerns "naked" short-selling, i.e. sellers who are so desperate to short that they don't bother borrowing a stock and just take an overnight fine for non-delivery as carry cost.

    UK Inflation Jumps to 3.7%

Inflation targets are artificial anyway... as well as inflation measures are designed to ignore massive inflation factors like growing property prices. It is actually quite feasible that Sterling will hit parity with Euro as Euro declines 0.8 US dollars.

    UK Inflation Jumps to 3.7%

Kassz007, I have to agree with bearice here. I believe next-to-zero interest rates combined with high signle-digit inflation are sustainable for decades. Some buisinesses wil be hurt but others will flourish.

    Dual monitors from a notebook

I would appreciate feedback regarding how snappy this solution is. Say, Remote Desktop from Microsoft tends to have very noticeable lag when scrolling with a mouse wheel.

    Dual monitors from a notebook

Specterx, is there a reason that you prefer to trade from a laptop?

    Possible?!

You are missing the important part - that trade in an orderly market place where the quotes are offered by other participants. If you place a markte order you get executed against the best price. Even if ECN do have a branch of businerss who trades FX in their own market place they follow the...

Apple becoming "uncool" - this image is the core of their business

    Possible?!

Here there is a difference between ECNs and bucket shops (or market makers as many of them prefer to be called). An ECN doesn't take positions; they just provide connectivity so that their clients (some of which are usually major banks) can trade between each other. In this sense each ECN is a...

Multiple monitors-USB vs. DVI vs. HDMI

It's nice if the devuice comes with all the thinkable adapters but I don't think the number of adapter included in the box should be taken into consideration when choosing a device. Adapters can be purchased separately and are very cheap.

Impressive performance! Do you have anything like a daily target?

    Possible?!

    1) As a backup in case one of the brokers has technological problems 2) To hide the actual position from both brokers 3) There may be some commisssion/liquidity considerations... like one broker may offer pre-market size for stocks while the other broker is generally cheaper.

Grinding it out, day after day

    Great link!

    Possible?!

for 2 reasons: 1) I assume foreign exchange position involves leverage. So, if you sell US dollar and buy Japanese yen you actually own just a small part of the yen balance; the rest actually belongs to the broker as you need to seel this yen to pay up the dollar you borrowed from the broker...
  20. L

    Possible?!

Unless you have some special arrangement with both brokers you'd have to unwind each position separately.
