If you buy Calls on dips, you must also short volatility?

Mark, So selling the OTM put spreads into a price decline is a way to take advantage of increasing IV? (I read your blog and have "Rookies", both are great.) I now trade mainly SPY (the ETF) because it is in my "learning comfort zone". I have done a lot of call/put buying in the past, but...

    Bear Put Spread Question

tman, Go to 1option dot com and read his post on "the problem with debit spreads". Describes what you ran into, I think. "To complicate matters, as the spread “goes your way”, the option you sold will pick up speed along with the one you bought and your gain is muted."

    Collar traders

rft, I ran a RWASAS on a collar vs a spread for a $50 stock and a 50% drop in price, gap down, no chance for adjustment, and a close down of the trade. There are several ways of using equivalency. I decided to use a $100 net return and front month options as the common elements. The...

    Collar traders

A covered call and a short put are equivalent positions. Add a long put to each, and you get a collar equivalent to a put spread. You can go to voptions dot com and see visually that the collar and bull put spreads are equivalent posiitions. What are we missing?

How about the Samir Elias book, Generate Thousands. Anybody read it ? I am thinking about getting it. Most of the option books I have read have either been what you can get for free from CBOE, etc. or some over the top stuff that is nice to know but doesnt make you money. I do have MDW's...

    "BANG" Option Trading...taking $1,000.00 to $100,000

wartrace, thanks for the reply, after I sent the post I thought I should have added that this is a more aggressive trade than i would normally do. I did one similar to this for SEP (97/99) and it worked out as a total win, even though it did move against me at one point. So I might be...

    "BANG" Option Trading...taking $1,000.00 to $100,000

For myself, moving away from hard directional trading, but not going to neutral, I have been doing credit spreads, so this is a little bang trade. For my entry to the $1000 challenge consider, SPY @ $106.31, my outlook is bullish with caution. a SPY OCT 100/102 BULL PUT SPREAD @$0.34 vs...
