Day Trading Options - How to choose the right strike?

destriero ........ You clearly have no interest in this thread with posts like those. Let the market have the final word on the AAPL $113.00 weekly calls. :)

Day Trading Options - How to choose the right strike?

It doesn't have to. If Wednesday and/or Thursday is a strong day for AAPL those 113.00 calls will pay-off, even if AAPL is below $113.00. :)

Day Trading Options - How to choose the right strike?

In today's volatile market that $1.50 from entry to market close is jack-shit with three days expiry. :)

Day Trading Options - How to choose the right strike?

AAPL at $109.06 Bought 2 October 02, 2015 113.00 calls at $0.26 IMO ...... That is a good trade and you did choose the right strikes, that is my sort of trade. I would exit when (if) it returns a profit - if not let it expire worthless. I would shoot for a 2x trade or better. Wednesday...

names to short in this market

TSLA ....... Would be number one on my list. Gasoline has dropped quite a bit and I think it's too much of a hassle to charge up the batteries - the novelty of electric cars will wear off. TSLA is one of the only companies that has done well with alternative fuel - I think their time is up...

Day Trading Options - How to choose the right strike?

Day trading options is impractical due to the bid/ask spread. If you want to hold them for a short period of time consider opening a position just before the market closes and exit the position the following day when the market opens. Try and profit from After Hour and Premarket gaps. :)

    Caterpillar

Yes ..... to the "untrained eye" CAT has dropped quit a bit on the layoff news and that is a bearish sign. Perhaps the sell off was a knee jerk reaction instead? Labor is very expensive and the layoffs should be bullish for CAT. :)

    Caterpillar

Jobs cuts are usually bullish for a company. So I would have gone with a bull put spread. CAT at $64.98 Sell May 2016 55.00 Put at $2.94 Buy May 2016 50.00 Put at $1.90 Credit $1.04 EDIT: Having both spread positions open simultaneously could also be considered. :)

Selling ATM Options - Viable for long term strategy?

No doubt he is very knowledgeable about options, I would say #1 on ET for options. IMO .... That is his one big ET weakness which always leads to his downfall. He then comes back with a new ET handle and then "rinse and repeat". Yes ..... very shocking. I was following the Infamous thread...

RE: Some say it's going to get worse before it gets better IMO .......The markets will resume the bull market and break their all time highs during the upcoming earnings. You need to "think twice, post once". :)

    What is your point? :)
  16. OTM-Options

Selling ATM Options - Viable for long term strategy?

False ............. The market is not linear, time of the entry is key. You could have bullish option positions and still lose money in a bull market, same thing with bearish option positions in a bear market. That's the way options are. :)

Selling ATM Options - Viable for long term strategy?

It's doubtful the premium collected would match the amount the stock appreciates in value. :)

Selling ATM Options - Viable for long term strategy?

Selling puts to buy stock is the stupidest idea around, it's best to buy the stock outright. With Naked Puts you lose out on any potential stock gains, but carry the risk of the stock going down. Long the stock also carries the risk of the stock going down, BUT you benefit if the stock rises -...

Yahoo expiring options chains being deleted to early :(

Yes that is correct. Yahoo Finance is the first place I go to for option chains, their layout is very good. :)

Yahoo expiring options chains being deleted to early :(

Yahoo used to delete the expiring option chains about 2 hours after market close on Friday. During the last two weeks they appear to be deleting them two days BEFORE they expire. :( The September 25 weekly option chains have now been deleted. I hope this is a glitch and they fix it soon. :)
