    MAC vs Windows?!?!?!

I was a mac person a long time ago, pre windows 98. I have also worked in IT on mostly microsoft technology. Windows NT 4.0 was stable only after service pack 3, which means that a lot of people suffered with it for a long time before they got it right. Windows 2000 was great after service pack...

what are some more sick stocks like wcom?

cool, i didn't know the link to anderson. That just makes me more negative on them. Could be a sort of rolling crash in the telecom sector just like what happened after Enron with the energy companies.

How to roll a contract over?

its sounds like you are just long a contract for one month and you want to "roll" to the next month. Really you are just selling the contract you own and buying a new one. Two seperate trasactions. Commissions vary by broker. My online broker has a button called "roll" that will do it all in one...

don't get so upset bono, after all if nobody was buying anything then you wouldn't be able to sell anything short. By the way, do you have any trades you would like to share with the class ?

the trend is up, market has bottomed.

keep going lundy. You've got your own system and as long as you don't become an absolute believer and bet everything at once you will be ok. As for the critics, well they are entitled to their opinion of course, and they may be right, but I think they doth protest too much. Sometimes when people...

what are some more sick stocks like wcom?

Qwest is in the same business and they have the same fundamental problems. I don't know if they have fraud but they don't need fraud to go under.

Your top 3 stock picks if you had to go long

MO - people gotta smoke and the stock has already been smoked. Cigs could be completely outlawed in the U.S. and they would still make money from the rest of the world. GE - because they are tremendously diversified (almost a one company mutual fund ) and because they have enough cash and...

the trend is up, market has bottomed.

ah worldcom. There is no accounting for fraudulent accounting. But I guess this type of stuff has to happen a few times a year. I don't know if anybody is talking about their positions anymore but I bought puts at the open this morning to go with my calls so now I am long a straddle on QLGC and...

trader vic is a great book. I don't know if he is still trading or just enjoying all the money he made. He has several chapters in the book about psychology and balance in life so I wouldn't be suprised.

the trend is up, market has bottomed.

everybody does everything. Fundamental long term investors look at charts and claim they don't beleive in technical analysis. Day traders claim they don't care about fundamentals and yet they trade off of earnings reports and fed rate changes.

the trend is up, market has bottomed.

yeah, saying you don't predict just isn't true. Everybody predicts even if its only for a few minutes into the future. And its too soon to say that the rally isn't going to happen. As for myself, I bought some calls very cheap yesterday and I'm not stopped out yet and I've got plenty of time left.

    Buying @ bid - possible?

I guess there is a technical distinction here between putting in a limit order at the current bid and it getting filled eventually, and actually buying at the bid, which of course retail people can't actually do. I seldom daytrade so I often put in limit orders at the bid or even a bit lower...

the trend is up, market has bottomed.

honestly on a fundamental basis there are lots of things to short, but I never short based purely on value because if I had done that 3 yrs ago I would have gone broke. So I look at technicals, and most everything that I would like to short seems oversold. Also there are some well respected...

    Swing/Position Trades

the breadth on the Dow 30 was positive and the breadth on the Nasdaq 100 was also positive. It was the breadth numbers on the Nasdaq Comp and the the NYSE that was negative. It was very focused dip buying in my opinion favoring the large cap well known names. Also, MSFT and GE both made...
